Liberal Radio - Ann Arbor

Ann Arbor is the 3rd most liberal city in America ($15. ticket for smoking pot in public). WLBY is the AirAmerica affiliate part of the Cumulus cluster. Why can't it get traction?

Most likely signal, (1290 is not a strong signal around the UofM campus), and I'm not convinced that the programming is interesting to Liberals.

It's been my impression that although Air America carries the banner of Liberalism, it just doesn't attract the typical Liberal/Progressive listener. Most of the people I know in the Ann Arbor, Ypsi, Detroit area that I could characterized as Liberals, listen to music radio, NPR, and other venues.

I'm not sure that the majority of liberals/progressives are attracted to talk radio either. I'd imagine they would listen to stations such as 107 one or even be very likely to use other forms of media besides AM radio where most Air America stations are.

In the Fall 2007 ratings book for Ann Arbor, WUOM-FM (University of Michigan NPR) did a 9.3 share (P12+) and WEMU-FM (Eastern Michigan NPR) did a 2.6 share. Does that answer the question?

With the poor signal you can't expect a larger audience unless you stream. All over the country Air America has weak signal affiliates were Rush has 50,000 blow torches. You can see by current Democratic Presidential race there are a lot of liberal leaning people out there. You can't really win unless you have a signal and/or streaming.

Liberals don't listen to liberal talk. They listen to conservative talk so they can complain about it intelligently. :D
