Liberal Talk in Alabama... sorta'

I'm just curious, has anyone else been able to catch Cincinnati's 1530 AM WCKY in Central Alabama. I've been able to pick it up in the evenings for a couple of months now. At times, it actually comes in better than Nashville's 1510 AM WLAC.

This was my first chance to check out AAR. I must say, it's scary to see how many feel. To hear one host continuosly call President Bush and "Papa Bush" sons of a B****es on air is just pathetic.

Another (white) host even mentioned how he has used the "n-word" in racial jokes (because he says that no ethnicity is safe from his humor), turns around and says that the tragedy in New Orleans was due to a racist response from the President.

Give me a break, politically, I fall somewhere in the middle of the road depending on the issues. But the venom that is being spit from the mouths of these guys is far worse any of the crud Rush has brought to the table.

Easier to listen online.

WCKY probably puts the best AAR signal into Alabama, but 680 in Memphis and WWAA-1690 in Atlanta come in fine also.

And yes, they are definitely bringing the venom right now. I'm curious to what they'll be able to bring to the table post-2008 when we most likely will see an administration compatible with their views. They've put all their eggs into being the opposition, something conservative hosts were smart enough to avoid during the Clinton years.

Just like Limbaugh, Boortz and Hannity are waaaay out there the other direction.

Well, yeah. But the conservative hosts directed at least some of their rabies-foam at other easy targets (the language police, Hollywood, any foreign country we weren't happy with at the moment, etc.). The AAR folks haven't really broadened their material. It's all Bush-bash all the time for the most part. Sure, it's fun now, but in four years it'll be as old and tired as all the Clinton jokes Rush still tries to slip in.

I haven't heard these liberal guys you mentioned but I have to say that I agree about Rush being just as bad. he is the "Party Line" guy. Whatever the Repub line, that is what is right and only what is right.. But I have to defend Neal Boortz. When Bush or anyone in his administration pulls a bonehead move, which is not uncommon, he calls them on it and lets them have it. Most people who have a problem with Boortz have a problem with his lack of political correctness. I personally applaud it.

If I had to choose which conservative talk show to be tortured with, I'd probably pick Boortz for the same reasons.<P ID="signature">______________

Smush the lamest parts of Rush's and Leykis' schticks together and you get Glenn Beck. Actually, both of those two (and I'm not a huge fan of either) are far funnier.

What planet are you living on? He doesn't even try to take himself seriously 90% of the time. He's not at all like Limbaugh, except that he is conservative. Glenn Beck is a great alternative for conservatives who don't want all the "blah blah blah politics" every waking minute, but don't want liberal sniveling pushed down their throats at the same time.
