Liberman Closes On Dallas Cluster, Makes Changes

The sale and transfer of ownership of Entravision Radio's Dallas cluster (Latin pop KTCY, regional Mexican KZMP-FM, ethnic KZMP-AM, Latin rhythm KZZA and Spanish adult hits KBOC) to Liberman Broadcasting is complete, and the new owners have made some changes.

KTCY remains a pop station but has changed its name to "Concierto," KBOC has become norteno-light "El Norte," and KZMP-FM will flip to Spanish Christian "La Luz" at midnight tonight. KZZA and KZMP-AM remain the same. All five stations are programmed by Eddie De Leon.

"Liberman Broadcasting is committed to serving the Hispanic market," Liberman Broadcasting Dallas VP/GM Alejandro Sanchez told R&R . "We are very excited, feel this is a great opportunity for us, and we will do a great job in the market. We want to give everyone, from our audience to advertisers, what they want."
 
I have to hand it to Liberman so far i like what they are doing! I have been saying it for a few years now, that i wish a big company would take a gamble and try Spanish Christian programing i truly feel this is the best rout they could have taken! does anyone know whos gona be programing the station? will it be brokerd programming? does anyone else think this could work in dallas? for sure i belive it would work in Houston!

Contemporary Christian is in the top 10 in Puerto Rico... but the difference is that PR is highly evangelized, and the Mexican heritage community is still mostly Catholic. I would think they have to do some preching and teaching to pay the bills, but it is possible there is enough of a Christian Hispanic market to sustain a music station.
