'Liberty' Rings In Richmond

Main Line Broadcasting flips its soon-to-be acquired country WCUL Richmond, Va., to a Jack-like adult variety hits. The station also moves down the dial, from 103.1 to 98.9, to become “98.9 Liberty.”

“The fun part is never knowing what’s coming up next.,” say station liners. The new outlet is currently running commercial-free and jock-free. Main Line has filed with the FCC to change the calls to WWLB.

“We have thousands and thousands of titles. If you don’t like a song, it’s okay. You won’t hear it for a long time,” owner Dan Savadore told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “It’s the widest variety of music you’ll hear on radio in terms of style. If it’s good, we’ll play it.”

Maybe this station will beat Mix 1037 deep into the ground, since they play the same 170 songs everyday.
