Now's the time if you want to file an object to the license renewal of any radio stations in Maryland or Virginia. The applications had to be filed by June 1st, and objects can be filed until September 30th. By they way a number of stations did not meet the deadline, and the FCC had to send them letters reminding them. A couple of things you may want to check on stations: Is their public file complete? You have a right to see it, and you do not have to give them your name or show ID. The main studio must be with-in 25 miles of the city of license (Note not all stations actually operate from their "main studio"). If a station has been off the air for "financial reasons" during the license period, why should they be granted a renewal? If they did not file their renewal on time, they probably did not run their pre-license renewal announcements! I can think of a number of "questionable operators" in Maryland that did not file on time, and probably have many problems with their public files, so if you have your interested in letting the FCC know how you feel about a radio operator, go for it.
