Liddy & Hill have left the building!!!

Their photos taken off web site. Hugh Hewitt in their place. Welcomed Phoenix listeners!

Liddy got jealous Austin was freelancing on other big market stations and went behind his back several times to 70-something GM John Timm (he himself is on retirement mode).

The fact that the KKNT webmaster didn't clear off the website over the weekend suggests the deletion of Liddy & Hill occurred with little internal notice.

As I wrote a few years ago when they left KFYI: So Long Frick & Frack!

Well, if you check their official website, they are starting in a new home with national syndication on 3 October with Jones Radio Networks, with the broadcast being on KKNT, wait a minute, is that the original announcement that never changed?!?
;D

Yeah, I heard Dennis Miller last night, a replay from the KXAM morning broadcast.[

Not sure, does KKNT do all 3 hours of Dennis?

Only a matter of time before KXAM loses this show. KXAM is like A league baseball, if anything is good, it gets moved out of the minor leagues to a major station.

KKNT is a major station? They're AA at best.

If you want to compare local news-talk stations to baseball...

Major Leagues: None (That level is strictly for Top-10 market stations)
AAA: KFYI, KTAR-FM
AA: KPHX, KKNT
A: KXAM
Sandlot: KFNX

Compared to KXAM, the crystal radio set I got from Radio Shack in 1972 is a Major station. ;D

Come on now, you can say what you want about KXAM, you can make your comments about us and our programming all you want...

But there is not one thing wrong with our signal!

It's a nice East Valley licensed 5000 watt signal that covers most the valley pretty well during the day and our 500 watts at night does well in the East Side.

I don't know what your constant beef with this station is Neal, I don't know if maybe someone here once when you were a kid stole your ice cream cone or your Malibu Barbie and hung you by your shorts on a doorknob at band camp.... and I really don't care.

It's a free country... say what you want... but our signal?

Our signal, at least is a good signal. And there is no way it could sound like anything from 1972... I'm pretty sure the old beast was built in at least the early 80's.

;D

Nice hum too! ;D

At least KXAM did its power drop at the specified time (6:30), unlike a certain
other station (cough!...1100...cough!) that was still on day power at 6:50. ::)

The 1950s power drop sequence was neat though: dead air for about :20 on
day power...carrier drops off for 4-5 seconds...carrier returns at night power
(We just lost Edna in Sun City!)...dead air for another :30 at least. That was
was followed by a repeat play of the canned newscast which had aired only
a few minutes earlier.

Jeffry, I would LOVE for KXAM to be a major player, but for chrissakes, you gotta admit, its been pretty pathetic for a long time.

Its a great signal, I listen to Dennis Miller daily, but there is nothing else that interests me. Your show is fine, but its not my cup of tea, that's not a slam, just not my kind of show.

I just wish the owners would show some commitment to making KXAM a station that can compete.

Thank God they are gone. I was actually forcing myself to listen to JD Hayworth just to avoid listening to them. Awful. Hill is a total moron, who's whole thing is imitating Liddy's "gay voice" or "stoner voice" and agreeing with everything he says. I always wondered why they even bothered to have Hill there, as he adds absolutely nothing, he is just a cheerleader at best. PC Friday was overdone, and played out. Maybe funny once or twice but the gimmick had gotten really old. I thought it was hillarious that they planned on striking out into the world of syndication, and left a lucrative gig at KFYI.

I only have one question now. How is Hill going to afford the upkeep on that silly new rug of his with no job? I love their "revised" promo picture where the bald hill was cut out and a rug wearing hill was pasted into the picture. How stupid.

Well, what's pathetic is how long you have been launching personal attacts against the people at this station. Why do you care? You say you would LOVE to see us as a major player? All you ever do is say mean things about the ownership and hosts. Do you just like the numbers 1310 or are you a big fan of the letters K, X, A and M? Because I just don't get it how you would LOVE to see us do well.

Thanks for the nice words on my show, but honestly I am not buying it. You are like that loudmouth at a party that tears people down and when those people walk up behind you, you smile and say... "Oh nice to see you, love your work."

All anyone has to do is read your past posts to see that I am right about you. In this same post you ripped on our signal and now you say it's a great signal? You should change your screen name to Waffle Legend or just John Kerry.

But to be honest, I really don't care. Anyone who knows anything about this place knows we are doing the best we can in a tough situation. So nothing you (or anyone else on this site) have ever said in the past bothers me. We actually find you and this site very entertaining, even though you are often rude and misinformed.

The best way to show that someone doesnt know what they are talking about, is to let them keep talking.

So... keep on talking Neil... you always make us smile.

Jeffry O

PS: Oldiesfan... what hum? I don't hear a hum... sure its not your radio? Do you live near some power lines? I will look into it though.

Oh Jeff, grow a backbone, its not personal to you, I'm sure you are a great guy. You are defensive as hell though. I've heard your show, its fine, but not the kind I get into, get over it.

I understand you need to support your employer, that's admirable.

But, be honest, KXAM is pretty sad, and its ratings back that up.

I'm not being a loud mouth, ratings are what rules, where are 1310's ratings?

Where have they ever been?

As for ripping on the signal, I didn't mean the signal, I meant what place KXAM has in the valley radio scene, which is pretty damned low. Sorry you took it as a tech issue.

I know this as a listener, KXAM is one boring station that has never tried to live up to its potential.

Backbone? That doesn't even make sense.

You mistake me for being mad, I am not. Just telling it like I see it.
We may not have the ratings like the big boys, but we do well with the loyal listeners we have and we have been finally making money the last few years. And that's where it really counts.

We do what we can.

By the way, I was joking about the tech issue, just having fun with it. And I dont care if you don't like my show, I am usually more suprised when someone does.

Now, see, what you just said there Neil, most of that I can respect. Now if you would say stuff like more often, and knock off ripping on the hosts that don't deserve it, then I would have more respect for you.

Professional critiques are fine, but take it easy on the nice people... they didnt do anything to you.

We're counting the minutes before this one is moved to Take It Outside! On the subject of 13~Ten, the last time the Nurse and I listened to that station was when Nationwide was selling it and let Bruce Kelley do his Radio Bruce format.

You know what Dr? Me too!

When I was a kid I used to listen to Bruce Kelly on it with my little AM radio.

When I got my Sony walkman (batteries never lasted long) I went to FM.

I used to listen to Sam Steiger and Bill Strauss every day, it was great local radio. I even listened to John Dayl (in between his frequent expectorations of phleghm).

Part of the charm was hearing Gerson screw up and then hear Steiger holding his tounge!

I do hope KXAM holds on to Dennis, they have him live, or very near live, in the morning where his show belongs, and Dennis doesn't fit in with the KKNT Salem hosts as much, he is a skeptic, a smart ass and not a religious person (at least not to the extent of other Salem hosts)

Jeffry, you made the comment that everyone that works at your station is "Making the best of a tough situation." What is the tough situation, and what is being done to improve it?
