LIFE AFTER STERN

Infinity should convert WYSP into having a music intense morning show after the departure of Stern. With all the yacking going on in the morning, especially that &#@% on MMR, I think a music intense morning show would work. Have a real high profile, wiz, cracker-jack, jock that can throw time, temp, traffic and top breaking stories in-between the hard/metal rock sets. There are people out there that like to hear music in the morning, although the wheels don't think so. I do believe before Stern, WYSP had good numbers with plenty of music and the witty Chopper Harris in the morning.

I actually agree with you here. Infinity would be completely insane to try and put an unfamiliar talk-show style DJ in to Howard's major home markets (New York, Philly, and DC) after he leaves.

DC I could see Don and Mike in the mornings, but in Philly and New York, it HAS to be music.

Here, here! Music in the morning is a great idea. Especially since there isn't one morning show saying anything worth 1 nickel. Preston & Steve are busy discussing the "Mad Wacker" guy that Kathy ran into. Chio's crew is busy butting into people's lives by giving roses to Philly & NJ, while someone elses's relationship crumbles. HOward is Howard. WHo knows what XTU is doing, and who cares what ROcco the ripoff janitor is doing. Philly needs an enimea in the way of some hard rock in the morning drive.

IMO I think YSP will move Couzin Ed to mornings with Tanya, his show would feature a heavy musical rotation with his witty homor thrown in. Who moves in to Eds old time slot How about everyone's favorite Frank Lario?

Re: LIFE AFTER STERN//GREAT IDEA!

I think it would be nice if the morning after Stern's departure, John Lander takes over mornings and flips the entire station to Mainstream CHR. Not because I want to see WYSP go away but because I am thinking of how hilarious it would be to read this board that day.

It's a shame that the wheels and cogs in the radio Biz are out playing golf so much, with all of the fine strategies and wisdom that is posted on this fine website.

Brilliant response. Really. That would be a day to remember.

I'd like it if YSP put Cousin Ed in the morning, so he could fail miserably in a short time and then go away forever. Lario may not be the best jock ever, but I'd take him over that annoying phoney, Cousin Ed any day.

There's always Barsky in the Morning.

Re: LIFE AFTER STERN//GREAT IDEA!

After listening to the station non-stop for the last few weeks, especially the Couzin Ed show, most of the station sounds phoney to me. The music is good and getting better with Evanescence/Local H/Collective Soul and other bands from the past being added, first time I heard a female singing lead on YSP since they spun Lita years back. What I don't like is all these sex bits and the "lets worship Tanya attitude", she is one big phoney, and the fake horny cheerleaders, all these bimbos are married and could care less about these pumped up tetesterone couch potatoes listening to YSP. I say, just play the music, do your spiel and act like an Active Rocker without all the suggestive X rated, male jock geared fluff. Tommy sounds the best and most sincere, also the weekend jocks are non-pompus and good, including everyone on this boards favorite jock, including mine, Frank Lario. I guess YSP is still better than MMR in all aspects, what else do the rockers have on the dial as an alternative???

You make some good points there, but I like the male driven attitude of the station. Especially the Cuz...
Listening to Cord on WMMR makes me think WMMR is geared towards a female audience, Matt is so soft spoken and nice...Ohh lets play some Abba for all the girls out there....

I think you basically just called Matt a wedding DJ.
