Life after Tom Joyner

WKXI Jackson just dumped the Tom Joyner Morning Show for Steve Harvey. Tom will retire later this year, so I think that’s why WKXI made the move. Will there be a replacement for TJMS, like Skip Murphy, for markets in which the SHMS is on a competing station? Maybe Russ Parr picks up some stations? How about D.L. Hughley or Michael Baisden moving up to mornings? My preferred answer is for stations to develop local talent.

It's interesting that alot of affiliates were too eager to cut Joyner loose before he signs-off for good. As for Baisden, he doesn't have as strong a presence as his original incarnation of the show; DC, Atlanta, Miami, Tyler and others dropped him.
And yes, I'd rather see more urban ac's go live and local in the morning. Some stations did pick up Dedee McGuire, others went with Rick Party & Sasha the Diva.
