Life During Radio

So there's a post "Life After Radio"... thought I'd jump on a new topic... "Life DURING Radio".

Any ideas to bring home a few crumbs? Aside of Metro Traffic, and doing contracted imaging for a few stations...

Life during radio consists of life doing radio. That's my experience anyway.

Sometimes doing radio is not enough dough, yo.

I've supplemented my radio habit for years by doing mobile dj work. It is like the voiceover business though... laptop computers and mp3 files have made it where almost anyone can put together a system and go after the gigs... so the competition for the jobs is getting tougher and the prices lower.

I also believe I'm getting too old for this. Not in my ability to keep up with current music trends, but to lug all that sound equipment around every weekend takes a toll on your body.

That's funny, Kev, I still like lugging all that equipment around, but I hate current music.

But I still like sweating in a tux, and putting out all those little logistical and personal (and twice REAL) fires, and going home with a backache. Once you get that big hug from the Bride, who looks at you like you just painted her day perfectly, its all worth it.

Not to knock people who do it, but I'm just not interested in voice-tracking, especially voice-tracking other towns. I'm kinda finished with card-reading too. I just sit there thinking, "I give up my weekend for this?" I could be trapping crawfish. + I've only been married 18 mo, so you know.... AND, Football season's coming. Of course, some of us have to do what we have to do. I understand.

My tude probably means the end of my jocking, but to me its like guys who wont date anything other than women who knock their sox off. I'll be picky about my gigs & chance the "loneliness" (weekends--off doesnt actually feel "lonely" yet) until I find something close to a "10." I dont know, maybe I've lost the fire??? Life goes on.
