Lifeless in Rapid City

The topic about new Rapid City stations got me to thinking about the existing stations. When 1520 KOMA gave up oldies for news I was hard pressed for a decent oldies station in Rapid. KOMA had live jocks and a playlist that would feature a few "oh-wow" songs now and then. I always looked forward to sunset when 1520 would start booming in here. So I tried KKLS 920 AM but that (is it Jones Radio) satellite service they feature is just annoying. Songs get chopped off at the start or end. The same tired oldies over and over and over. I'd rather hear local automation. Hell, the supposed live/local morning show can't even give the current weather. The weather break goes like this: "Sunny with a high of 94." I guess it's breaking format to give the current temp.

I realize this is market number 519 (or so) and I doubt a 5000w AM daytimer with 111 watts at night is a cash cow. But the situation at the local FM's isn't much better. Gimme some of that good time voicetracking.

So if 3 new stations signed on in Rapid City, would anyone care? zzzzzzzz

That's too bad Jimbo. RC was a good radio market a few years ago. There was some good talent in town, I don't know who's left. I can't believe there are more stations coming, it seems to have a lot already for a town that size.
