I heard that long before Lifetime held exclusive rights to The Golden Girls that in syndication The Golden Palace was in a shared package with The Golden Girls in that Golden Palace was a continuation of The Golden Girls only without Bea Arthur and moved to another network. When Lifetime picked it up in 1997,they acquired only The Golden Girls and not The Golden Palace until last year when a number of fans wanted The Golden Palace in the lineup since it was a continuation of The Golden Girls.
The same happened when Three's A Crowd, the 1984-1985 spinoff of Three's Company, was also acquired in the syndication package for a while in that when the last episode of Three's Company ended,Three's A Crowd started and when that show ended, the first episode of Three's Company started up again. Also at one time they alternated both Three's A Crowd and The Ropers in another separate package as separate shows.
