Who was the British female voice Lightning used to use from the early days, and does she still do voiceover work? Thanks.

I forgot her name and I just hung up with Lt. Dan Buckley who is midday jock for Lighting 100 and does production for my station, Magic 1560, WMRO. I forgot her name because she is no longer on thier website.

I can tell you she passed away a few years ago because of cancer, so she is no longer with us. Her position was filled with the male voice about 7 or 8 (I think) months or so after she passed. She has a unique british voice. They played her liners for a long time after she passed away and Dan took her liners and re-edited them to make them sound fresh after she was gone, but you can only do that for so long.

I'll talk to Dan this week about her and I'll get back with you. Our station is sort of connected with Lighting 100, but different ownerships. I think Bill Buntin met her at one time, I'll ask him too as well.

According to this article, the woman's name was Sue Wilkinson. From what I read, she passed away following a battle with cancer.

Thanks for the info, gentlemen. Sad, I really liked her style (and 100.1 in general.)

I can be wrong at this fact, but I think she was out in LA trying to start an acting career, while doing Lightning's Liners.

Hey Pat,

I've sent in an air check to the Lt. Dan Buckley over there who is fowarding it to the P.D. over there to do some Voice Tracking. They sure could use both of us after last week. Mary Brace (the morning chick) was on vacation and they had a hard time fill that slot. You or I could do some good over there. The kid they had doing it was young and didn't sound that great, but Dan said they were in a tight jam last week, so he was all they had.
With our years in this biz, they could use us. The weekday line up is really good, Mary, Dan, David Hall, Laurel. It's just on the weekends and fill-ins Dan tells me they have a problem with decent talent. Maybe they could even use Buntin on the air over there.
Lt. Dan Buckley and Laurel Creech are doing production for WMRO. They sound good on 1560. We just picked up a locally produced program from Lightning 100 and airing it on Saturday Mornings from 9-10AM.

Scott, I can do some v/o work for you if you ever need an extra voice. And I'm free! But the tradeoff is, I won't drive to Gallatin just to cut spots. If you can meet me at a Nashville-area studio sometime, we can talk. I can email a sample for you if you like. It's a PSA, so you could probably put it right on the air. Might want to put some music underneath it.

As for Lightning 100, their morning guy last week sounded a little like a guy I used to work with in west Tennessee. And their evening weekend guy, Justin, sounds like another former coworker from the same station.
