Lightning Strikes WDEL

Apparently the News Journal reporter was a bit lazy as they didn't check the WSTW website and yes as one would expect both WDEL and WSTW was affected. Neither website mentions being on a back up generator (WDEL used to be and now WSTW is the flag ship for EBS) so apparently they didn't lose power and are at their normal transmitting power.

Cue the old Superman theme from the 1950's Superman TV show with George Reeves: Rick Jensen was struck by some of that lightning today at WDEL while eating a donut in the station's breakroom. He morfed into a Conservative Super hero (with a large "RJ" on his chest) who will beat back any and all Democrats and Liberals as he flies across the nation grabbing those "evil liberal socialistic Democrats" dropping them in the former Soviet Union aka Russia, where people like that belong. Rick stands for GOP "truth, justice, and tax breaks for the wealthy and large businesses", as he battles to fix the American economy on the backs of the blue collar working class Americans, while he ignores the fact that the economy was wrecked by his GOP big business wall street lobbyist pals who changed the rules that FDR and the New Deal put in place to prevent such a thing from happening again. So Rick's motto is that, He'll never rest until every last lib Democrat is evicted from the nation so help him Reagan. Fade music...

Thankfully Al Messitti was out of the building when the lightning struck so he didn't morf into anything, but with Super Rick Jensen on the case, Al's days at WDEL might be numbered. One day loyal listeners to Al's show will tune in and note that Al's voice is missing and some new guy who loves the GOP and who thinks that the wealthy should pay less and the middle class should pay more in taxes, has taken Al's place. We here, will know what happened. Stay tuned for new adventures of the morfed Rick Jensen on 1150 WDEL weekdays 1pm - 4pm.

I saw Loudell refer to himself sometime as a former "teen-aged journalist," so I pictured him saying SHAZAM!.

Safer, Morley
Hottlet, Richard C
Agronsky, Martin
Zahn, Paula
Arenstein, Howard
Murrow, Edward R.

Doesn't sound good for Al. Maybe he can get the column back.

That would serve Al Messitti right no left, by having him have to go back to that "evil liberal rag" aka the News Journal as an "evil liberal communist, I mean columnist", heh heh heh as the plot thickens on the the Rick Jensen Superhero Radio Show on WDEL as he leaps tall filing cabinets in a single bound. Meanwhile Allan Loudell does an interview with an Pakistani comic book company representative, during his noontime news show to discuss, Delaware's new comic book hero, Rick Jensen slayer of left wing liberal Democrats. The interview is picked up by CBS radio for use on their CBS radio "Weekend Roundup" broadcast.

Super Rick gets an offer to appear on CBS TV's Sunday Morning Broadcast, but the interview is canceled by CBS, because they realize that Super Rick considers CBS to be part of the "evil liberal media" and they fear he'll grab them and take them and drop them in Russia.

I'm assuming that by tomorrow, Tuesday, things will be back to normal at WDEL and WSTW as the phones and internet will be back to normal, and Super Rick will morph back into his former non-super hero self as WDEL's afternoon talk show host.

OK, all kidding aside, Rick Jensen was listed again in this years Talkers Magazine top 250 radio talk show hosts (the only Delaware radio talker listed). Congratulations Rick. It isn't too often a Delaware broadcaster gets any sort of national recognition, so that's quite an accomplishment. Again, Congratulations.
