The LDS Church ("BYU TV") has used C-band for many years, originally because of early fears of Ku-frequency path loss. They still are using C-band on feeds to highly-humid downlink areas, as well as where they need a global beam for wider coverage.Actually most traffic has moved to KU or KA. Some countries have even banned C-band's use, or are pushing existing C-band users to migrate away within a year. The reason? Same as the U.S.; C-band spectrum is valuable to Cell/PCS provider$.
The whole system goes away on 12-31-2021. They will do it all via internet.
