LIGHTS! CAMERA! CASTING CALL!

Well with RI becoming the Hollywood of the northeast is anyone in area radio responding to any of the casting calls for extras? Seriously, I know these parts aren't a fast track to stardom but it might be a good promotional gimmick for any station if one of their personalities was actually cast.

Under Dog has already been filmed.
There was a casting call for Steve Carrell's new movie Dan In Real Life on October 14th. They were looking for college type guys, teenage girls, tough looking guys, & women over 75.
Now upcoming is Michael Corrente's Prince Of Providence with Russell Crowe as Buddy Cianci, & I assume at least some filming will be done in Providence. I really think some station should encourage some of their people to try out.

So far Nibbles Woodaway's cameo in Me, Myself, & Irene is the only instance of a local celeb making the cut.

Are you sure it wasn't "Stuck On You"? ( my son was an extra in that one).........ah, hell............it was one of those Farrelly brothers' movies. ;)

The big blue bug was in Dumb And Dumber

That movie sucked about as much as Me Myself and Irene anyway. Says on Wikipedia that Mayor Cianci pardoned the bug for drinking Dell's Lemonade. It all always comes down to Cianci. I loved Stuck On You. Wasn't that filmed on Martha's Vineyard? Is Matt Damon your son? LOL

If they can time Prince Of Providence to Buddy's release next year and he ends up back on talk radio, maybe on WPRO, they can get PRO staffers to play city council members.

Ouch.. lol Low Blow!! haha.. whatever they do in the movie, I hope they dont kill off the "Buddy" character ...Like in the Departed... Jack Nickolson's character is based on Whittey Bulger...and look what happens!!! .. BANG DEAD....UMM hello... he isnt dead in real life people...but still good flick!

They can't kill Buddy off. He has a lot in common with Michael Myers of Halloween, Jason, Freddie Krueger, etc.

Nibbles Woodaway was in Dumb & Dumber. "There's Something About Mary" had some scenes shot on South Main Street, and a scene shot at The Hot Club over on the waterfront.

I did some Extra work for ABC Television and most recently for Showtimes hit "Brotherhood". I've also been asked to be in a movie that's being filmed in another state. So I'll be doing that in a couple weeks. So every now and again I hit the screen. The pay is better than Radio and you actually get treated with respect

Every time I work on a series I get pampered with a full Buffet and Star treatment.......... and that is just working as an Extra! People on the screen definitely get treated better than people on Radio. No doubt about it.

You want radio and respect? You can't have both.

My Point Exactly! Radio people get treated about as well as Circus Clowns.

I know we're off topic now but I guess we can categorize this under possible career paths. A buddy of mine lives near this guy:

The money doesn't look too bad & who cares about respect. I know I had the wrong Nibbles Woodaway movie but the only Jim Carrey movie I've ever really liked was Lemony Snickett anyway.

Seriously, I know a guy who left medium-market radio to go to Ringling Brothers'
Clown College! He finished (it was NOT a short course) and actually worked the circuis for several years. Says he was treated much better as a professional clown than he was ever treated in radio. He's back in broadcasting, though, doing free-lance voice tracks. Mostly retired with persistent pain from injuries suffered in the course of his clown career.
