Lights Go Out On Jimmy

From the AJC:

During the taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show, there was a power failure that shut down the control room, the broadcast transmission center, and the tape operations center. So, he "taped" is show via webcam on his laptop.

Which begs the question, why didn't the backup generators kick in. There should be some kind of backup, especially for the broadcast transmission center (BOC/Master Control.) I guess that's why ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX has more than one BOC in case of a failure like this.

What is this "taping" that they speak of? I thought he does his show live - just as the title implies, right?

Then again, there ain't nothin' country about Pauly Shore, and his works show up frequently on CMT...

How does that no talent clown get any airtime on TV? Is he related to someone, blackmailing some network exec or buying influence?

The Department of Water & Power in Los Angeles is pretty notorious/atrocious with sporadic power outages. Studio lots go dark all of the time and since Jimmy's show is really just a converted theater wing of the El Capitan along Hollywood Blvd it really doesn't have the luxury of backup generators on site that the main filming lots do.
