LIKE ME LIKE ME LIKE ME

Did a quick rundown of Facebook "likes" for Providence stations. Some I got from the links on station websites. For others I had to go to Facebook itself. Deceiving in some ways since there are sub-pages, pages for specific shows & personalities, etc, but here's the tally for what it's worth:
Hot 106: 51,308
Pro-FM: 30,513
WCTK: 22,841
Fun107: 20,270
WBRU: 14,356
HJY: 13,948
LITE: 7561
Poder: 4044
Coast: 2988
PRO-AM: 2861
B101: 2754
KKB: 956
WHJJ: 770

Surprised Poder 1110 has over 5x likes than HJJ then again HJJ only having 770 likes for a talk station that was very strong. There likes should be around PRO-AM's.
HOT 106 makes sense.because of thier target audience.ALthough now that I'm looking at PODER1110 having 4 to 5 more likes than KKB is interesting.I would think it would be the other way around. Is it possible Poder 1110 has more listeners?

Consider the possibility that the demographic listening to talk radio may distrust or actively dislike places like Facebook. If they're avoiding using it then they're not going to "like" anything on it.

As a potential advertiser I'd question whether big "like" numbers suggest a listenership that spends more time blogging in Mom's basement than out spending money. And, if out spending, spending on WHAT?

Interesting results for Poder, considering they're a daytimer. But I remember them doing well with their full-service format after switching from country.

Regardless of whether or not you like the respective format, PRO-FM, HOT 106, & Cat Country bond well with their listeners. So does HJY & I'm surprised they don't have more "likes" but their audience may not be into the cutesy stuff on Facebook. IIRC the last time all numbers were made public before encoding, KKB may have done better 12+, but being more full service & with no Latino stations encoding, they may have an easier time selling the station. I don't speak or read Spanish, but just looking at their Facebook pages, Poder seems to be more interactive and into the community. KKB posts "buenos diasss" a lot, but not too much else. I realize every station's page is going to have its fair amount of TMZ type news, but if you're not going to interact on a local level then why bother? Coast's page is totally useless. I haven't listened to talk radio for any length of time in a while & was surprised the 2 talkers didn't have more fans, but if their P1s are the same boring blowhard listeners I used to hear, they are probably technologically-challenged.

Lite Rock 105 has more likes than Coast 93.3 and B101 combined. I think that says something right there...
