LIL WAYNE- HOW TO LOVE

It certainly isn't a typical Lil Wayne song, but it seems to be making waves. Its technically the third single from his "Tha Carter IV" CD to be released in late August, but neither of the first two singles crossed over to CHR. Any predictions for peak positions at mainstream CHR?

My best guess is a peak at #5 but I think it will sit in the top 20 for a while.

It's no doubt going Top 10, I see it peaking between #4-#7. This is his biggest CHR hit since "Lollipop" in 2008, 4 years ago. The moment I heard this I knew this was going to cross over to CHR and go Top 10.

I hope not. Just my opinion, but I think it sounds awful...

I won't say awful, but this definitely has to grow on me because I'm not feeling it now. And why does every rapper now seem to want to sing? Kanye West. Drake. Even OutKast.

No doubt, it's horrible. However, the masses will like it. I think this song will eventually cross over to Hot AC to try to capitalize on mom-daughter blocks.

Q100 actually added this (and not Super Bass ???) - to me, it sounds really bizarre, but sales are really high so I'm sure it'll chart well

Can't picture it on Hot AC though (except for the hybrid stations)

I don't care for it because I can't stand his voice on anything.

The only Hot AC's I could see this on are the ones like Mix 106 in Baltimore, Star in Pittsburgh, etc...yeah, the hybrids..

This song is catchy. I can imagine how outstanding it would sound if an exceptionally sounding male singer sang on the track. If you think back to how many people sang ballads in the 70's (or on those infomercials of when music was real), I could imagine someone singing the exact same lyrics in that type of fashion over the same "how to love" instrumental and make it even skyrocket on light rock hits stations and hot ac's as well as some possible play on rhythmics and chr's. I'm sure better singers have already done it on YouTube, although I never thought to check...

As far as Lil Wayne's voice on everything, he does have certain tracks that he sounds very well on. Keri Hilson's "Turnin' me on" is one, and Enrique Iglesias "dirty dancer" is another, to name a few. He also turned out alright on "get money", but mostly due to his rapping skills and the unique way in which he arranged his lyrics in parts of the song.

Some may say that if a male singer with a great singing voice sang the song, it might not be as popular. The fact that it is being sung by someone that can't sing may account for a lot of the song's appeal.

This song really makes me cringe now - can't listen to it from beginning to end - reminds me of an early 90s song called I Adore Mi Amor by Color Me Badd

It's just a personal taste thing for me though - jazzy chords and sliding vocals make me sick, even if the song turns out to be a classic

I can't stand it either. I hate the vocals.

This song reminds me of LL Cool J-I Need Love from 1987. Not that they sound exactly alike, but they fill the same role. Many conservative CHRs that normally didn't play a lot of rap jumped on "I Need Love", they felt comfortable with it's slow rap-ballad sound.

This already has a -720 bullet, and I feel like it's only been charting for 6-7 weeks

Apparently, a lot of CHR listeners didn't like it...
