Lila Carney gone from 10NBC

Yeah, word on the street is she was let go.

Don't know why.

Re: Who is Lila Carney?

I never saw Lila Carney nor do I watch Channel 10 news, therefore I don't have any comment or opinion as to why she no longer works for the station.
What I am surprised about however is that nothing has been posted about people leaving Channel 8. The revolving door on Humboldt Street hasn't been as active as in years past.
I highly doubt that morale or the pay at that station has improved. Perhaps young professionals in Elmira or other smaller markets are seeking to get out of New York State and trying to land jobs in medium-size markets down south or to the west.

Your post makes no sense...why would we post if people aren't leaving? What is there to say?

The point I was attempting to get across is that normally we read on here about people leaving Channel 8 in droves. Instead we have someone gone from another station. It was just an observation that's all.

I'm new to this board, so maybe I missed something. I was wondering if anyone knows what happened with Kathy Kriz over at channel 13? I don't see her on their website any more.

First of all, welcome to the board.

As for Kathy Kriz, from my understanding she does not work for 13 on a full-time basis. I'm not sure if her status is part-time or what.

Why she doesn't appear on 13's website is a question best answered by either someone who currently works at Channel 13, or someone who keeps tabs on the local media, such as Scott Fybush. www.fybush.com

Kathy Kriz no longer works for 13.

As for 8, as soon as the contracts for Jerry's kids expire, they'll be out the door. A lot of behind-the-scenes people have booked. A photog is leaving soon for 10.

I don't understand what this means.

I used to work for channel 10nbc as a behind scenes guy, until I quit one day cause the job was getting me know where in life. I still keep in contact some people. The reason why she was let go she was using the company's cell phone for her personal use. She rang up a huge bill and the station was able to find out who it was cause the all the news achors/reports have cell phone to keep in contact with the news desk, photographers, and stores. Its the honest truth to why she was let go. Its against company police to use a the phone or computer for personal use.

Who was this person and how long did she work at 10? If she indeed did what you claim she did, then management had every right to get rid of her.

Lila Carney started with News 10NBC in the early spring/summer

If I can remember Lila Carney started with New 10NBC (hubbard broadcasting) in the early spring/summer of 2007. I remember when I was first introduce to her. She was siting at the old interview set in the studio taking notes watching the weekend news anchor. She was fired for using the company cell phone for person use, and went way out the station budget minute plan. This not a rumor its a fact. All the info I'm am giving you coming straight from the source.

Kind of an odd reason to fire someone. In most cases where employees are issued company cell phones, personal use is OK -- as long as the employee reimburses the company for said personal use.

Sure, it could be possible Hubbard may have a strict ban on personal use because it doesn't want to be bothered spending the time figuring out which minutes are personal vs. business and tracking down people to pay back for personal minutes.

I don't know the girl at all... just kinda hard to believe someone with "smart" in their username, yet frequently leaves words out of sentences or misspells common words like "nowhere" ("know where"). How does one go "way out the station budget minute plan" anyway?

"All the info I'm am giving you coming straight from the source." What? All the info you're are giving us IS coming straight from what source?

From time-to-time we all make spelling errors or grammatic mistakes, but I have to agree with your observation that this individual's writing seems to resemble, in my opinion, that of a sixth-grader. "Smartparts" claims to have worked for Channel 10. I highly doubt however it was in the capacity as a copy writer.
There are a lot of unanswered questions here. Was Carney warned ahead of time about using the TV station's cell for personal use? Was she a member of a union, and if so why didn't that union fight to help Carney keep her job? There are just a lot of things that "Smartparts" might be able to answer if indeed this person has inside information.

I am not going to defend smartpants or his spelling, but for what it is worth, he is right on the mark for why she was fired. This I know.

I will take your word that Carney was fired because of misusing a company cell phone.
But don't you agree it's kind of dumb on her part to risk her job just because she didn't want to pay for a some phone calls?
