LImbaugh at 910?

My assumption is - CC is making NewsTalk 910 their big gun - that's where they put the former KGO hosts. So it makes sense to have Rush on 910 since he's the biggest 'gun' in talk radio. Beck, by comparison, has become a bit of a fringe character and the subject of a lot of derision, given the wacky stuff he talks about. Remember that conservative Fox News jettisoned his TV show, and I'm sure that's not because Beck is conservative. But I guess he still gets decent enough ratings on the radio, so it makes sense to air his show on 960 - even it is alongside mostly liberal talk hosts.

I agree with your guess on placement. I watched Beck every day until he got waaaayy out there...even for me. ;)

This morning on Armstrong & Getty (A&G), they mentioned how they're becoming very popular in the industry. I don't know if that means popular to CC, or popular to the entire radio industry. Do you see A&G being syndicated in more markets? I would think they'd be smart to stay regional to NorCal.

I don't get why they wouldn't put Glenn Beck and Rush on the same station

Beck quit FOX he wasn't fired. Beck's TV program is now on Streaming on internet TV which every new TV has & he charges $5 a month he is making money had over fist.

A&G leaving their natural NorCal base feels like when John & Ken tried national syndication...J&K are a SoCal phenomenon, and A&G probably would not do as well down there. Remember, KFI ran A&G tapes on weekends for a short time.

Beck may be making money "hand over fist" - I don't care - and I didn't say Fox fired him. It was amicable and a lot of nice words were exchanged publicly between Beck's people and Fox's people. But clearly - Roger Ailes wants to be seen as running a legitimate cable news network. Having reasonably serious evening pundits like Hannity and O'Reilly is one thing, but having an over-emotional frequently blubbering conspiracy freak spout outrageous theories is another. I suspect Fox was happy to not renew his contract.

I agreed with 99% of what Glenn said on his show. He was "not renewed" because of his political attacks. Again, most of which I agreed with. Herman Cain was certainly attacked by Fox News Radio.

If you really watch Fox News Ch., and listen to Fox News Radio, it is not as conservative as it once was.

Congratulations to Glenn for making money on the Internet. I won't pay $5.

Roger Ailes has the same problem Ron Paul has: going from the fringe to the mainstream. When you're trying to get noticed you play to the fringe. When momentum picks up you shift toward the center. This is why Ron Paul is disavowing his racist comments from the past and why Roger Ailes is dumping the loose cannons.

Makes sense to me. Ailes himself, though clearly very conservative - has certainly spent most of his career in the media mainstream, as a producer of some entertainment TV shows, and as media consultant to Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, and Giuliani. Even his detractors believe Ailes has very good instincts regarding what will play to the masses.

For example, Reagan had been doing poorly in debates against Mondale in his 84 re-election bid, until Ailes was brought in to advise him, and polish his performance and talking points. He also gets credit (along with Lee Atwater) for Bush the First's come-from-behind victory against Dukakis in 88.

And of course, he's made Fox News not only the top cable news network, but one of the top rated cable networks period.
