WIXZ/1360 was a carbon copy of Cleveland Top 40 giant WIXY/1260. They shared a fair amount of material between the stations, from jingles to logos to even deejays. It might have very well been the first attempt made to franchise a format under a "name" brand, if one doesn't take RKO-based Drake-Chenualt or the ABC Radio top 40 formats into account.
The Harlem Globetrotters (no kidding) bought WIXY and WIXZ in 1972... which through a series of mergers and buyouts ultimately became Gannett.
