It's called persuasive writing. As one who does not personally agree with programming decisions from Air America, I frequently mention other progressive hosts not syndicated by Air America. Using the art of persuasive writing, I discuss how other hosts have more of a chance in small town America than Air America (e.g. Ed Schultz, Jay Diamond, Alan Colmes).

A recent thread crossed out below was similar in content, with persuasive writing comparing hosts such as centerist to left-leaning Doug Stephan to Air America. But the last time I checked, this was also a message/debate board, and persuasive writing for the purposes of stimulating discussion and generating feedback was one main purpose of this board, so I am perplexed as to why others complain that posts mentioning various hosts sound like "commercials." I guess that since this board is now almost exclusively dominated by ultraliberal extremists in large markets, there is little respect from the opinions from progressives from small town America, and that is unfortunate. -T

You can still read it. Just click on the first post. The "strike through" only means you can't post anymore.
______________

So your writing is "persuasive" and most everybody else's is not? I don't think so. I grew up in a small town (population 1990) and have lived in another small town for the past nine years (the first town is 350 miles from the nearest big city and the second is 100 miles away) and many of my liberal friends and I are in tune with most of what we hear on Air America (and can't stand either Schultz or Colmes). I believe that Jay Diamond does a weekend show in Boston, but I've never heard him.

But there is a great hunger here in "small town America" for true liberal voices, since we're surrounded by right-wingers. People in the big cities have lots of exposure to liberal ideas -- but out here they're hard to find, except on the Internet.

I thought that this board was dominated by This Tom! And there are plenty of voices that are even further to the right than Tom. Witness all the repetition of Brian Maloney's talking points.
Edited by NewsVet on 07/20/05 09:38 PM.
