Limbaugh's in-program commercials.

As an avid listener to Limbaugh, I have recently noticed that he is now interrupting his program in mid-sentence to start talking about one of his advertisers. He even does this while talking to callers. I am assuming he is doing this to charge higher ad rates, but why in the world would he need to do this? Not only is it annoying, but overall, I don't think this blending of advertising and programming is good for either.

Yeah, it's annoying. Obviously that's part of where the 400M comes from though. I can't even imagine what a reader from him costs.

I've noticed this too, have you heard of LifeLock?, I guess it's a way for advertisers, who need to get Reni tankless water heaters, to make sure you listen to their ads, instead of changing the channel during commercials, or leaving to enjoy a delicious Allen Bros. Steak.
I agree, very annoying, but apparently working :), now excuse while I go to bed in my Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort.

It's a train wreck 'cause several times Rush has had to abruptly change the subject in order to steer it to the reader. Makes me wonder how good of a disk jockey Rush really was. I would think he could steer the conversation to his particular advertiser better than he does.

I think all syndicated programs are going to be doing more of this in the future. Sponsored segments etc...I bet in the new year we get much more of this with Hannity as well as they try to pay for his new contract.

God and America sponsor Sean. You people don't listen closely enough, which makes you: unpatriotic, liberals, Muslims, commies, socialists, elitists, etc.

I don't have a problem with them doing it. I think the classic definition of a "stopset" is archaic. In fact, if I were a television advertiser, I'd want more product placements like what they did with Seinfeld.

However, there has got to be a better way to ease into a sponsorship reading than the way Rush does it. Ideally, you want to get into it before the listener knows you are doing it. However, with Rush, I can tell the minute he's about to "plug" something.

How true, I understand sales of Superman items rose dramatically during the Seinfeld run.

And it's more realistic, too. Look in anybody's kitchen cabinet, so you see boxes of cereal and crackers with big pieces of black tape on them? No.
