Limbaugh's latest gaff

Reports are that El Rushbo has lost 7 national sponsors since his latest gaff(stunt) last week referring to Sandra Fluke as a "slut".

In my opinion, his weekend apology was pretty half-hearted and weak. I'm curious. I wonder how many of WBT's local clients might follow the national advertisers' example and pull their commercials from Limbaugh's show as well.

Doubtful that it will happen, but maybe it's time for Limbaugh to take his millions and fade into the Palm Beach sunset.

Any publicity is good publicity, watch is ratings go up. People just love to see a good train wreck. He's not stupid, just lacking in scruples. It's all about $$

Mike, we know too much.  I've had that discussion and made that exact point to friends recently.

Quite simply, Rush has taken a page from the Howard Stern's broadcasting manual.  Do or say something outrageous from time to time to get your show some outside media coverage.  If you look back over Limbaugh's history, you realize that he's done this many times.  Will this be the last time?  Some people think that he went too far and this could be his downfall.  Wouldn't hurt my feelings a bit, but I doubt that Rush will be leaving the nation's airwaves over this latest flap.

You are right, Mike. It's all about ratings and dollars.  As I believe Rush has stated himself in the past, "Follow the money".

No matter what she is back in the stone age when Rush and I were both baby DJ's I was told that I should think of myself as a visitor in people's homes and conduct myself accordingly. That's old school and not done anymore. Good manners do not make headlines.

You might have seen the headline at the home page to the site "Rush is King of Radio". The question is now will he learn from this mistake or will the fact that he got away with it lead him to say something even more outrageous? If we were betting I know where I would put my money!
