Remind me what markets J-P has television stations in? I forget.
______________

With nearly 1/3 of those radio stations being here in Denver.

And considering that Infinity would love NOTHING MORE than to land at least one of the AM outlets (for a WINS-style all-news outlet to compliment KCNC 4 if nothing else), you can bet that if Lincoln Financial is given a lucrative offer (even if it's only for the one station), they'll sell that station.

Thoughts anyone?
______________

Radio? Uhh.....What's THAT?? :)

Hopefully, even after the merger is completed, the broadcastiong division will still go by the name of Jefferson-Pilot. It's a well-known "brand name", especially in Charlotte.

Ask people in Charlotte if they know what Jefferson-Pilot is, and most of them will answer "Sure! They own Channel 3 and WBT radio". Very few would say "Jefferson-Pilot sells insurance".

On the Charlotte board I mentioned that CBS owned WBT until
the mid-1940s, when they sold it and WJSV (WTOP) Washington,
DC, in order to acquire KMOX St. Louis. I somehow think it
would be appropriate if, should Lincoln decide to sell its
broadcast properties, CBS bought WBTV. It would make an
outstanding addition to the Eye network's o&o lineup. Someone
eles on that board, however, mentioned that Viacom would want
a CBS-UPN duopoly, and no one else in Charlotte would be willing
to sell (WJZY/46, the UPN affiliate, is owned by Capital Broadcasting
in Raleigh, owners of another outstanding CBS affiliate, WRAL/5).

WBTV has had the same channel number, call letters, ownership,
and network affiliation longer than any other station south of
Washington, going back to 1949. I guess technically
this streak ends with JP being part of Lincoln; maybe not if the
JP name is kept for the broadcasting division.

What percentage of WB programming airs on WWBT?

A very little bit on slow weekends (sportsless weekends...) and overnights at 3AM.
