Lincoln Financial Group...Seems like we hardly knew you!

I hate to tell you, but ask anyone in Charlotte which channel they recieve more clearly with an inside antenna and the answer will be 18 over 3. Probably the same in Richmond, 35 over 12, but I would guess 5 still beats 24 in Charleston. WBTV has SERIOUS reception issues in Charlotte. Still, I can see FOX being interested in WBTV but certainly not WWBT or WCSC---Charleston is a sub-100 market, after all, and Richmond is #61.
This is true with me. I used to pick up WFMY perfectly but I had to throw out the TV I had. WBTV was almost non-existent. Although lately, I've had the rabbit ears in a position that meant WBTV was clearer.

I agree WBTV 3 has an awful signal on the east side of Charlotte. All this won't matter much longer WBTV-HD comes in fine.

If CBS were to Buy WBTV wouldn't this be their smallest market for a CBS O&O station?

But, CBS does have a solid radio cluster and a TV companion would make a nice addition. Either that, or they dump the radio in the market.

It was that way when CBS sold WBT to Jefferson Standard back in the 1940's.

I keep seeing rumors about Cox buying Lincoln Financial Media. What would happen with the TV properties? Cox can't own both WBTV and WSOC.

Rumor has it that Raycom would buy the TeeVee stations and LFC Sports...

There is just something wrong if Cox buys WBT and moves it over to channel 9...

Just Say NO!

That would be sacreligious, a complete travesty, almost as bad as breaking up the AM / FM / TV Combo.

I know Raycom already has a tv station in the Richmond market, and they might in Charleston as well. So, even if Raycom got WBTV, they couldn't hold on to WWBT.

Cox could easily spin off the TV and keep the radio! Would be a nice fit with their Atlanta properties. Would that get Boortz back on WBT? :~)

Wasn't suggesting selling WSOC TV - but the Lincoln Fiancial TV. They could own WSOC and the LF radio group! Could they not?

That would be the grand weirdness, walking into WSOC's building to do a WBT shift. The earth might split open and a plague of locusts o'er the land.

BTW, just got an e-mail from a colleague at 1 julian price place. Their e-mail appendage is still jpc.com.

You might want to read "Beachfront Property For Sale" on the home page of this board!

If Cox really is the leading buyer, they can't buy WBTV in Charlotte unless they dump WAXN. I don't what space is left in their building after they launched WAXN if they wanted to move the radio stations in. If Raycom is buying the TV stations, what are the chances they'd be kind enough to buy the radio stations in Charlotte to keep the group together?

Cox cannot buy WBTV and keep WSOC-TV--thank goodness. FCC regs prevent one company from owning two affiliates of the big 4, even in a major market such as Charlotte. And lets hope Raycom does not get WBTV---they can't even operate medium and small market stations well.

Raycom is a TV production company. Doubt they have any interest in buying radio. So, Raycom buys WBTV and I still think Cox buys all of the radio. Makes a natural fit in several markets. Would be interesting to see what happens with Boortz if Cox owned WBT!

;D Raycom has done dumber things..Hogwood is one in my opinion..  None of this would be going on if my old buddy Charlie Crutchfield was alive!
