Lincoln Financial Media Sells TV Operations to Raycom

So this means WTVR is looking for a buyer. Too
bad it can't be Media General, so it could be reunited
with former sister stations WNCT Greenville/New Bern/
Washington, WSLS Roanoke, and WJHL Bristol/Kingsport/
Johnson City. But I know the reason; Media General
owns the Times-Dispatch, and sentiment would play no
role anyway.

Does this put ACC basketball back on Channel 12 in
Richmond?

Raycom Sports

The sports-syndication transaction is expected to close by early December.

Will we see Raycom Sports (only) come January?

It will be strange to watch SEC on Raycom Sports. Raycom is identified only with the ACC (SEC games have been strictly JP Sports and LF Sports).

What would be nicer would be if there was an improved product in the presentation of SEC sports, especially football. I'm not sure which is worse, the announcers or the camera work. I held out hope when LF bought JP and changed the name of the telecasts. Obviously, that's all that changed.

I just learned from VARTV that Raycom plans to sell
WTVR/6 Richmond, VA (WWBT/12 is a Lincoln Financial-
owned station), and that the rumored buyer is Gannett.
Assuming Gannett buys WTVR and doesn't sell any of
its current holdings, that will make seven CBS affiliates
owned by the company.

Anybody know any more about this?
