Linda Lavin, star of Alice, 87

Apparently Diane Ladd clashed with the other cast members, and was removed from the series. In the last episode of Alice, which was mostly flashbacks, none of Ladd's scenes were shown.

The real Mel's Diner is located in Phoenix. The exterior shots of Mel's Diner in 'Alice' was this restaurant located on Grand Ave. in Phoenix, the city where the show was set. It's considered an iconic landmark.

I've only eaten there once, and found the food to be so-so. But then, that's better than what people on the show thought about Mel's cooking!

Mel's Diner in Phoenix named most 'iconic' diner in Arizona
I wonder if there's a real Happy's Place or if they just put up signs for the exterior shots of the bar from the TV series?
