The newly revamped sdradio.net this week reported that Linda Welby had joined the cast of Tony & Kris Morning Show on US 95.7, San Diego's also-ran country station. You've got to check her out.
Linda spent a few years on The Planet as "Joan Welby" on the Joneses Morning Show with Chuck Jones (and your truely as the resident curmudgeon "Crusty Bob").
Linda has one of the sharpest wits of anyone I worked with in 30 years in radio and it is worth tuning in to US 95.7 mornings just to catch her snippets. It is a bummer that no one has given Linda her own morning show, or at least put her in the lead role with sidekicks doing secondary stuff (and why is it EVERY radio morning show now has to be an ensemble?????).
I have to commend T&K and for letting Linda talk beyond the lamely titled "five things you need...." traffic/news segment. Gary Owens could always make me laugh with just one twist of a word and Linda does the same. It's good to a hear a sharp mind at work on San Diego morning radio (well, Monique's got a sharp mind, but dull sidekicks).
