Lindsay Lohan Hosting SNL

Lindsay Lohan hosted Saturday Night Live last night.

There was many, many, many references to her legal problems.
She participated in all of the those skits that made fun of her.

Not too long ago she attempted to sue rapper, PitBull, for using
her name in one small lyric. Although the suit was tossed out, but
yet here she is participating in these skits referring to her (past)
personal problems.

Very boring show last night aside from a moderately funny monologue when Liindsay she made fun of her legal issues. Jimmy Fallon and Mad Men's Jon Hamm made cameo appearances during the monologue and Hamm had a quickie as Snookie's (Bobby Moynihan) plaything during an Update sketch.

The press is dumping all over her performance. It wasn't as good as I"ve seen her on past shows, but the main reason the show sucked wasn't her, it was the writers and the lousy unfunny sketches they did Saturday night. She didn't have that much good material to work with

Unless Lohan can land the starring role in a movie about Elizabeth Taylor, and that movie is a success, then her chances of jump-starting her career are slim to none.

Appearing on SNL was just a litmus test to see if Lohan still can garner an audience. And IMHO SNL hasn't been entertaining in many years (not counting the appearance by Betty White).

Agreed. Though in a couple of skits, she seemed to be looking off to the side at the cue-card guy. I know its probably hard to remember all that dialogue with only a week's worth of rehearsals, but still.

I wouldn't particularly dump on Lindsay, though, or blame it on her past problems. Robert De Niro - considered one of our greatest actors - turned in a horrible performance as SNL host a few years ago.

Some of the best hosts on SNL are actually TV personalities because they are acustomed to doing TV. Movie stars are often very awkard on TV, because they are used to memorizing scripts and being able to start over when they mess up. Look at award shows. The movie actors have trouble doing their schitk when presenting awards on live TV. They have trouble ad-libbing and working without a net.

And interesting enough, politicians seem to do well on SNL. Al Gore hosted shortly after he lost the presidency in 2001, and did a very professional job. I recall a filmed skit in which he visited the set of The West Wing, (still in production). It included Martin Sheen and a couple of other WW cast members. The upshot of the skit was - once Gore was in the fake West Wing and sat in the fake President's chair, he refused to leave. Hilarious!

Years before that, Rudy Guiliani hosted SNL - when he was Mayor of New York, and he was also very funny.

And the Halloween show before the writer's strike a few years ago, when the guy with the Obama mask on was actually Obama. He didn't do too bad, for not having much scripted-TV experience, I guess. I thought it was funny.

On the Rudy Guilianni Episode I liked the skit where Will Ferrell was Saddam Hussein and announced that he and Rudy were really terrific pals on "Nightline" as Rudy is home watching that show and freaks out!!!
