Heard Linkin Park's One Step Closer from Live 8 on Wired 96.5.....Thought this was a little strange..............and again who knows what is being played where anymore.

No,you and not 100% correct. What you are referring to is the mash-ups with Jay-Z and Lincoln Park. Those were remixes done by a DJ, not a corrobation by the artists. it's like the "Grey Album" which is a mash-up of Jay-Z's Black album and the Beatles White Album.
 
The audience that listens to stations like Wired and Power didn't even know about Linkin Park until "Gay Z" did a remix of the Linkin Park song. All of a sudden, when that remix came out, Linkin Park was "cool."

How true...and besides, Lincoln park get so old and played out so quickly
