Lionel picked up by WHNZ

In what must have been one of the area's best-kept secrets, WHNZ made some changes to its programming schedule effective January 2.

Lionel's weeknight program is now heard live 10 pm-1 am. Tom Martino's Troubleshooter program -- which was previously in this slot -- has moved to 7-10 pm. That slot's previous occupant, Dr. Laura, has been removed from WHNZ's schedule.

It appears that Lionel's Saturday show will continue to air live on WFLA.
______________

Tom Martino? Now that's stimulating. And Dr. Laura is at least a quasi-CC product.

I love Lionel's show! It's about time someone picked it up. He's a native of Tampa too. So HNZ has three good shows now.. Lionel, Joey Reynolds, and Imus. I'm not really into the health and finance stuff that fills their daytime schedule, though.

Don't know who "RP1973" is but his/her posting sounded like it came from the CC PR department. Glad to see Laura get the boot and Lionel back on the air - full-time in Tampa.
______________

Sorry to disappoint you, but I do not currently, nor ever have worked for Clear Channel. I'm just a big fan of Lionel who was pleasantly surprised when I turned on WHNZ Monday night and heard his program. I had been out of town for two weeks visiting family in Indiana, so if there was any promotion of the launch during that time, I missed it.

Finally, something on Tampa Bay talk radio that coaxes me away from XM for a couple of hours. The only frustration is going to be when baseball season rolls around and he starts getting pre-empted by the Devil Rays.
______________

What's the point of "The Troubleshooter" anyway? In my opinion that show is such a waste of air time. I would rather listen to either Dr. Laura or dead air more than that schlock. I know his show is geered toward solving problems, but I don't see how it appeals to a large demographic. At least Dr. Laura discusses topics to which people can relate.
