Lionel Richie

Are songs from his new album getting played on country radio?

My favorite pop station plays some of them, but of course it's the type station that plays Lionel Richie's pop hits.

......the heck with lionel. but, there is some good new don williams out. probably been a decade plus since he last recorded. the single has allison krauss paired up with him. don williams sounds just like he always has. smooth and great!

yet, aint not one bastard within the corporate frame work of major market centralized country programming gonna spin it on radio. ya, now thats criminal, and sacrilege. thanks for the effort don, but it looks like 99.99% of potential listeners wont even know its out.

^^^ Jamey Johnson's newest has Alison on it and so far I have already heard it on one station: 103.1 WIKQ of Johnson City, TN. "Make The World Go Away" is what they are singing. :) :) :)

God bless you and them always!!! :) :) :)

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

That's because there has been next to no advertising campaign for this record. It's clear that their intent was to release this record for his fans, and THEY know it's out. He's been touring to promote it. But even if people buy Don's new record, none of that money goes to radio. So what motivation does a radio station have to give free advertising to a guy who doesn't do interviews, and wasn't all that nice to radio back when he got endless airplay?

None of the songs were released as singles to country radio. The duet with Shania was released to pop. That was it. The thing that really drove sales for this record was a TV special back in April.

"Stuck on You" got some country airplay back in '84 when it was a hit. Not sure if it actually "crossed over" or not.

"Deep River Woman" (with Alabama, of course) got country airplay. Was probably a bigger country hit than pop hit.

"Easy" (the Commodores) got airplay on WSM-FM here in Nashville back when they were "the Wolf" and playing crossover hits.

So Lionel Richie is no stranger to country airplay, although he hasn't exactly been a "regular" on the country charts.

The one sng I have heard for certain is "You Are" with Blake Shelton. The original was, of course, already played on this type station. I can't say I ever heard Shania's duet.

I looked at the list of songs but I can't remember which ones I've actually heard.
