Lions vs Saints Move To Sunday Night For Week 13

The scheduled game that was surpose to air was Colts at Patroits which will instead move to 1pm on CBS. Also in Week 13 Ravens vs Browns moves to 4:05pm start on CBS with the Broncos vs. Vikings being moved to 1pm on FOX (which is different because CBS broadcasts away AFC games)

This will make it back to back weeks the Lions are on national TV.

One problem with that. The Broncos-Vikings game is IN MINNESOTA, which would put the game on CBS as per NFL broadcast rules. Reports of the game being moved to FOX are no doubt in error

Cheers & 73 :)

@ Pat Cook: You are indeed correct! It's why the DOLPHINS at Cowboys game is on CBS today (AFC visitor). Next year, CBS gets the early game at Detroit. They'll host either Houston or Indianapolis, barring any change in the current schedule rotation.

Now I have to correct my own post: nfl.com indeed says FOX for Broncos at Vikings next week! Oh well! :p
Since I'm here in Denver, I'll believe it when I actually see it :)

That said, it will be interesting to see how KCNC handles this since they had the game when the schedule was released during the lockout & KDVR usually doesn't counterprogram against the Broncos with a game from Fox (Home OR away)

I would also suspect that in the day & age of ACCOUNTABILITY a few heads in the scheduling department at NFL HQ will likely roll in the end as a result of this since the overall Week 13 schedule was so heavily (And poorly) tilted in favor of the NON doubleheader network (CBS) without SOMEONE doublechecking it before it went out (Even if the Colts/Pats game were to remain on NBC)

BTW.....One trivia note, it should be pointed out that this isn't the first time a Broncos/Vikings game in Minnesota was switched from one network to another. In 1987, NBC was scheduled to broadcast a Broncos/Vikings game from The Metrodome in October of that year but it was moved to ABC & MNF as a secondary game due to a conflict with the World Series (The Twins were in the fall classic that year & Game 7 took place that night at The Metrodome)

One of the announcers ABC sent was Gary Bender. I forget who else they sent. I'm thinking Pat Haden was the one but somehow that doesn't sound quite right. Can someone provide a fill here?

Cheers & 73 :)

The NFL is allowing this change to happen even tho CBS usually broadcasts all AFC at NFC games. Reason behind this if CBS broadcasted the Broncos at Vikings that would leave CBS with 8 games and FOX only 5. So with the Broncos at Vikings game going to FOX it evens somewhat.

Is this inside info you were privy to, Ken, or does the link you provide confirm this?

First time this sort of thing happened was eons ago, and I wish I could provide an exact date, but in the early 70s when CBS had the NFC and NBC had the AFC, an early season matchup between the Jets and Patriots ended up on CBS. I'm thinking its because NBC had Major League Baseball playoffs at the time, which ran at 4 PM et, and they needed to bump one game over to The Eye.

Oh well, another network for The Tebow Watch.

The link confirms this and I also heard about this on WFAN in NY.

Lynn Swann worked that '87 MNF game with Bender.

It won't be long before NBC cashes in on "Tebow Time", as well. They're probably waiting for Week 17. ::)
