Lisa's MOViN' from Seattle...

The Bellevue career upward mobility issues aside, can't fault someone for jumping to a chain that has radio properties in desirable major cities all over the place vs. a chain where your choice is "Seattle" or "Phoenix".

On the other side of the coin, there's something to be said for seeing this thing through, maintaining its momentum and getting to take credit for this. But I guess we all know now who will take all the credit.

I'm at a loss for words as to how "the Seattle team" will get by with the national consulting that it does. ::)

Are you all idots? Did you not read the posts on AllAccess and Radio and Records.. Lisa is from Portland and wanted to go home!

I know she has some ill family members, so for her to be able to be close to family and hom and still do her thing is a plus!

All of you who are anti-MOViN (AQH), get over yourself, OK. I know you're obviously a bitter old radio dork, but, looks like there might be a PD opening there now, why don't you apply and let those folks at Sandusky use all of your radio knowledge!

Tell ya what, cowboy. Why don't you copy and paste the text from R&R or All Access to support your claim. Helpful hint: it doesn't say anything about ill family members.

And if you read my threads and not let them get to your head, the points I have always made is a skepticism that the PD is more of figurehead, with Kaye really calling the shots. And questioning the long-term success of the station and format.

This makes two PDs of two separate Sandusky stations that at the time of their resignations are doing good in the ratings. Both cite personal reasons. Are you saying that's normal?

All I can say is if all the 92.5 promotions staff and interns spent even HALF the time doing their job, rather than posting on this little site how great "Movin" is, the station would maybe actually stand a chance.

It must be something in the water over in Factoria, cause Billy West sure spent a lot of time on this board posting how "The Mix" was going for World domination. ANNND..remember how well that worked!! HAHAHAHA

Seattle and Portland are, what, 2-3 hours apart? That statement would have more credibility if she moved from Florida or something.

Where's Mamas opinion on this?? Ooh that's right, she's packing to move to Portland;)

I agree with this guy. Ill family members is probably the best excuse she could think of to get out of Factoria.

I think you're trying too hard to find something that isn't there. If you knew Lisa personally, you would know there have always been plans to return home to Portland if the jobs presented themselves. She got a great chance to return to her hometown and be close to her family at the same time. Also, when a family member is dealing with illness, the difference between 20 minutes and 3 hours can be substantial.

Find a real story, this one is exactly as it was said to be.

Lisa's move is because of family, though rumors from Sandusky is that she did not get the key staffing support she needed to take MOVIN to the next level. There was a promise of a morning show and strong talent, then Sandusky pulled the plug.

Thank you Mamma for your honesty. My guess is that family issues were a big part of Lisa's decision, however the key issue is that Marc Kaye/Sandusky intend to run all of their stations as lean as possible until they are able to sell their Phoenix and Seattle properties to a larger operation. If you look at the Movin station in San Francisco, for example, they have launched an all-out national talent search to find the best in the business, and all indications are that they will spend the money it takes to secure the top talent that a new station needs to have any chance at success. KQMV, on the other hand, has hired two beginners (DJ KAZ and Monti Carlo) to "stay out of the way" of the music and make sure the EAS tests are implemented properly. It is really sad that the charter station of the Movin format is not spending the money it takes to secure success....but that is business as usual at the Factoria Mall Radio Supercenter!

I don't get it either, if you are going to commit and launch a BRAND NEW never before tried format in a major market such as #14 and are looking for those top end ratings, you gotta spend the money to make it succeed no matter what it costs (that is if you WANT to see it succeed). Think of it as an 'investment'. Not sure what the Wolf spent on talent and travel costs, but they went and got talent that have spent years is the business.

Maybe in a smaller market launching a station this way, but this is market 14 buddy.

Marc obviously isn't looking at it as an 'investment', he's looking at the here and now... "you want how much per year??!?"

Spend the damn money Marc, the return may be so much greater than what the station will become with a mediocre staff. Is he that pessimistic about the station that he wont spend the money?
