While channel-surfing Sunday I happened to tune into a PBS documentary on the life of Johnny Carson. It was a very interesting program. The Carson we saw on "The Tonight Show" was nothing like the real life person.
Unfortunately this program happened to be aired during a fundraising drive, which meant every 15 minutes or so the show was interrupted.
What I found very interesting is that during these pledge breaks I could not hear one telephone ringing.
Now here is the point I am trying to make, which might surpise some. Here is an excellent documentary that you won't see on commercial television, yet when a station asks viewers to call in a support such programming, all one hears are crickets chirping.
