Listen Longer...Save the Buzz (KRBZ/Kansas City)

96.5 the Buzz has started a campaign to "save the buzz" after a 2.8 rating which recently sprung up to 4.0 after the campaign, and has started leaning much more towards new music. What are your thoughts?

Most listeners can hear desperation, and now they're flat out saying it. Even if the listening spikes, there are more reasons why the listening was disappearing other than a few songs per hour.

Another question, if this station subscribes to Arbitron, is this a violation of terms to change PPM numbers?

I was looking at that station the other day online. Amazing playlist. You guys need to come over to St. Louis and show The Point how real alternative is done!

I always liked the Buzz! One of the better alt stations in the country and their signal is a blowtorch. Hope they keep it up somehow. Great campaign

Add Cleveland to that list ;) Seriously, Entercom is my favorite company for Alternative since the playlists are largely exciting and vary between markets. Radio 94.7 is in my personal top three and it gets good ratings and bills well. Hopefully KRBZ can pick up its sales, as its also a great station that I'd hate to see go.

The 4.0 went up to a 4.9 in June.

Okay so this is really turning out to be a damn good alternative station. I'm very impressed. I have to put this on my Number 2. Still, WEQX is the number one so far.

1- WEQX
2- 96.5 The Buzz - Kansas City
3- CD 102.5 Columbus
4- Live 105 San Francisco
5- Radio 104.5 Philly

FM 949 needs to get a little fresher with their alternative and then I will replace them with Radio 104.5 Like how they resurrect some 70s/80s glam rock and post punk artist but they are lacking on the new stuff.

5.2 in July

Entercom took both KQRC and KRBZ much more toward the current/2005+ side, and out of the '90s retreads, a few years ago.

My problem with the Buzz is the afternoon show. I get that Lazlo has probably had a good amount of success with it (hence the reason why corporate hasn't told him to change it), but there's a good chunk of the day when the great new music stops and he starts talking for 3ish hours a day. It's basically like a morning show in the afternoon, especially since he's only spinning 4-6 songs an hour during afternoon drive, so it's hard for me as a listener to not change the station when I'm looking for music (especially on a station that bills itself as a bastion of new music) and there's tons of talk for a large portion of the day.
