Listened to 92.3 NOW for 10 hours in a row, and loved it!

Today I listened to 92.3 for about 10 hours straight. I heard almost 90% of its playlist multiple times. I'm glad they have Stereo Love and Americano in power rotation so I hear those 2 awesome songs every hour! Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed listening to Now for hours on end and hearing my favorite songs played over and over, even though it's designed for high cume and low TSL. I can't stand Ryan Seacrest, but Lisa Paige, TicTak, and Chunky are entertaining (of course TicTak's show is my favorite). Chunky definitely tamed his act, and doesn't come off as creepy. Didn't hear many songs I didn't like. I noticed a lot of today's rhythmic CHR could have been considered straight up dance just 5 years ago. Dare I say it, 92.3 almost sounded like a DANZ STAYSHUN! What we had kept saying was the future of CHR music (ever since Justin Timberlake's hit Sexy Back topped the charts) is NOW (pun intended).

I used to not be able to stand CHR for hours on end, and the only stations I could listen to for hours were dance stations. NOW, I can say that I'm a P1 of 92.3 NOW.

I noticed z100 doesn't play "Trey Songz - Bottoms Up" and 92.3 Now FM does.

Also I was thinking that if Fresh 102.7 wasn't here would we see 92.3 Now FM playing more rock songs such as Daughtry, Train, etc?

I've been saying it for awhile, there is alot of magic at NOW. I loved working with people who knew how to create radio and it is one of the things I miss from NY radio....

Same with CBS FM!

Now, WFAN is another story................. 12 years of my life I would love back.

"92.3 Now - number one while Nick works!" ;D

Are you going to make fun of a Rhythmic CHR station like you make fun of the dance stations?

I'm saying that 92.3 NOW sounds much more "dancier" than KTU did in 2005. The sound of pop music in 2010 many have been speculating on for years has arrived! 12 out of the top 20 songs could be considered dance. So what if it's Usher, Rihanna, Flo Rida, etc. instead of Swedish House Mafia, Kaskade, Basshunter, etc.

On the contrary; I was actualyl poking fun at the "number one while you work" phenomenon... it's more prevalent on the Atlanta board...

But I think Now is finally on to something - not just because a person listens to it for ten hours on end, but I've actually heard the station in a couple of stores in recent days!

NOW has really picked it up as of late. This is the beginning of the "wave" for CHR stations adding dance elements to their rotation. Dance music, in itself, isn't that strong on its own in this country so if it can get on CHR in whatever "spurts" it can, then its a good thing. But it's going to take more than that......a mentality has to change amongst the core to stop being "elitist" about the music and do a little "give and take" to allow things to progress for dance.

That seems to be what I have done in this past year. That's why I'm so accepting of today's top 40 music. Last year at this time Pulse died and I refused to listen to hip hop. I'm not afraid to label Rihanna's new song as straight up dance, since on my first listen, I did not even know it was Rihanna since it's not her usual style. Someone has coined a new name for today's electro-sounding hits: urban dance.
I'm not even asking for a rebirth of Pulse 87, I'd love it if 92.3 Now adds more dance songs like Wynter Gordon - Dirty Talk or Afrojack - Take Over Control to regular rotation, a daily 1 hour dance/pop remix mixshow, and a pure dance mixshow on Saturday nights, similar to the Saturday night mixshow of 93.3 FLZ. As a DJ, I can easily mix today's urban dance with pure dance hits. It's hard to mix hip hop with dance.

The new Chris Brown ("Yeah 3x") is pretty close to pure dance as well. Last night I heard that song into "Like A G6" on a local Rhythmic. This is a station that was playing nonstop hip-hop just two years ago. It certainly does seem like dance is the new mainstream/rhythmic CHR.

Agree about Now, by the way. If I'm driving in the vicinity of NYC, Now is the first station I turn to (it used to be Z100). Now is just a lot more interesting, both musically and DJ-wise. Tic Tak is one of the best CHR jocks in the country. If Now actually had a decent morning show, I think they'd be a player in the market. Z100 is still a good sounding station but I feel like they've lost a bit of their NYC flavor in the past few years.
