listeners are bored

I'm shocked and chagrined, you mean this took a poll to find out that radio listeners are bored. The people what payed for this life changing poll must not listen to radio,or maybe they were bored.

Broadcasters (and I use the term loosely) seem to not want to listen to common sense...until some guy in a suit with a survey says what most know.Lots of companies/consultants/programmers go in wrong directions for lots of reasons:they don't want to admit they made a mistake...they are convinced they can force people to listen...they want to spend as little as possible...and I'm sure there are more I haven't thought of.

A lot of consultants have one goal: getting paid. If it's still broken, it still needs to be fixed. If they make the problem go away, they won't get paid anymore. Simple as that.I know, I know, not all consultants are like that. But many are.

I want to be DavidEduardo's apprentice.. :) Dude, your my new hero...You want to know why AQH share is down? Because of the crap on the radio these days. I've never heard more stiffs being added to radio stations as I'm hearing right now.. basics are not being tought and stressed by programmers. Jocks ramble on about nothing in particular. Very few PD's actually aircheck their jocks anymore, especially in the medium to smaller markets. Stations think they have to claim everything (your XX station, your YY station) and in doing so fail to pound a consistent message into their listeners head. PD's move songs through their playlists too fast because they want to keep the music "fresh" and think the world is going to end if they don't add the latest "i think this is gonna be a" smash hit.. (tell me this, how many people on the streets know, or care, who played the new Faith Hill tune first???) I have two philosophies that I live by:1.) It's not what you don't play that hurts you, it's what you do play. 2.) Tell people your name and address and what you're doing.. then shut up and play the freakin hits..

Mmm... gotta disagree there. If your competition jumps on something and it blows up, you're gonna be sorry. Here's a tip: test everything. And I mean everything. You'll know what to play soon enough.

LOL... ok.. hasn't happened yet.. maybe will someday. We'll see...

I highly doubt radio's problem is playing too much new music or moving records fast. In fact, the musical blandness of many stations is due to how they play the same stuff forever and DON'T freshen up the mix.
