I listen to the DJ Laz Morning Show online on Power 96 at my workplace in Manhattan every morning,
A few of my co-workers sort of look at me in a funny way because they think the show is a bunch Cubans making fun of and mocking blacks.
They are really offended by a black character who does traffic reports. His name is Chris. He speaks like a slave while reporting rush hour traffic.
There is another black character with a stereotypical black name (Tyrone). The Power 96 website says that he is always late for work or doesn't show up at all (another black stereotype).
Also, some of the Cubans DJs describe female R&B singers as being "pretty for a black woman".
I’m really cool with my co-workers, so I'm able to laugh it off. If I wasn’t cool with them, I think that they would go to Human Resources. I work in a real nutty place.
Note: I'm black
