Listening to the Radio in Worcester County

Since there's a big thread about this over on the New England TV board, I thought I'd start one for radio. I've noticed that sometimes I've been able to get some pretty weird stations. I know that in the Western part of the county, it's not uncommon to get Springfield stations. But I know that Portland, ME seems to have a lot of the same station numbers as Springfield. 93.1 is WHYN in Springfield, and WMGX in Portland. Interestingly enough, they're both Hot AC stations! 97.9 is WPXQ in Springfield, and WJBQ (was WCSO) in Portland. And I think 102.1 is WSHK in Portland, and WAQY (Rock 102) in Springfield, both are Classic Rock stations. There have been occasions where I could get both of them at once. But I can't understand why the Portland stations would come in better in Worcester than they do here in Natick. So, what's your experience with radio in Worcester County?

#1): Worcester is generally a higher elevation than Natick.

#2): Farther from powerful adjacent/second adjacent stations on FM-128 that may desensitize your receiver.

Just west of Portland here in Maine I sometimes can pick up WXLO even though there is a station at 104.5 in North Conway N.H.
97.9 in Springfield is licensed to Enfield CT. and I think the call letters are WPKX, 102.1 the Shark is in Hampton N.H.
