If you've ever had a child in a Children's Hospital, you know they have a Child Life department to help with the emotional needs of the patients. I couldn't tell you what specific prizes but I imagine puzzles, games, etc.

The man we may love to hate around here has a foundation that builds these TV facilities in Children's Hospitals.

Cool! When my brother and I were in the hospital as teenagers, all we had for fun stuff on TV was Jerry Springer. We would always blame each other whenever a nurse asked us why we were watching it, lol. "He wants to watch it...no way, it was his idea...."
 
When I was in the hospital, what I missed most was while there was TV. there was no radio. I would have liked to listen to music, but that was impossible. And BTW, streaming was not viable because I had to worry about battery life
 
Try the Tunin app. Almost everything I've tried has not been geo-blocked. In fact the only one I can confirm that is, is Scala Radio. I've listened to LBC, BBC WM, BRMB and several others with no issue. No VPN
 
I've been offline for a while because I moved house, to a much more rural location.

My new location has what I think is the only remaining mainstream music radio station on AM in the UK - Dales Radio, which is available on 936 kHz (as well as some low-power FMs in various villages). It's mostly an AC/Classic Hits format.

All the other AMs in the UK are either talk, sports or various ethnic formats. I was surprised when I scanned the dial in my new location to hear Coldplay!
 
I've been gone for years but doesn't Gold still exist? Formerly Classic Gold I believe. I know the one in Birmingham shut down but what about the rest?

Gold still exists, but not on AM. The two main station owners, Bauer and Global, shut down all their AMs one-by-one over the past few years and none remain. Gold is now on DAB nationally.

Caroline is still on the air, way down in the south-eastern corner of England, and Manx Radio has a "gold" station on 1368 kHz, but they're not really in the UK (they have their own radio licensing, your phone is roaming if you go there, etc).

Other than that, it's BBC 5 Live, TalkSport, various small ethnic radio stations, and that's pretty much it. Where I am, AM is blank other than 909, 1089 and the local station at 936.

Are BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Scotland still on AM?

Has there been any further info in the UK about fhe BBC closing Radio 4 longwave on 198 kHz? There were some reports on DX forums a few weeks ago that Arqiva had even notified of a September 26, 2026 shutoff plan. Nothing yet from the BBC itself about this, though they may not want to make a public announcement until closer to the shutdown date.

It's not something I'm following especially closely!

Radio in my new location is pretty limited. There's only really the BBC available on FM and DAB, the majority of commercial stations are weak or nonexistent - no Capital, Heart, etc.

The exception is Greatest Hits, which is available locally on FM as they took over a local station a few years ago, and the aforementioned Dales Radio which operates as a non-profit on AM.

Thankfully, the internet here is great, there's a rural fiber company who do 1Gbps connections, so no issue streaming anything!

Someone said they doing this, So no one spamming

I have no idea what he means, I don't stay long like 15 mins each & Move along

I don't travel at all, So I just think I'm at the location DXing when I'm on
