Any thoughts on this new station? I only listened a little bit but it seems like a soft AC station mostly playing 60s/70s/80s, a lot like a WDUV in Tampa and the AC's of old. Salem is running it as a translator from 94.5 HD2, and as a result I've noticed they've made Earth harder and made their music more focused on the 1970s and 1980s. I guess it's there for the purpose as a station to sell with 103.3 in package advertising.

Lite 102.9 Greenville

There was already a tired and failed Lite 102.9 format on this frequency from Charlotte, and now this new low power Greenville signal interferes with the variety hits from 102.9 The Lake. Wish they would have chosen a different frequency, as this limited signal really only covers Greenville County, but ruins clear reception of both stations on 102.9 in Spartanburg, where the Charlotte signal was formerly strong and clear. On my home receiver I have to strategically adjust rabbit ears now to get the Lake, but the attic antenna will interestingly get 102.9 analog from Greenville before the HD from Charlotte locks on. Another case of legal spacing a bit too close by the FCC.
And with Magic 98.9 and My 102.5 struggling with variations of the AC format in recent years, the Soft AC on Lite 102.9 in Greenville is a bit boring and perplexing. To me, 98.9 is already soft enough.

Yes I get 104.5 and it puts me to sleep. At least whatever station I was getting from my attic antenna, which was boring Christian music. I like good Southern gospel like Bill Gaither and Jimmy Swaggart, but not this. Probably another low power signal interfering from somewhere.
As for Greenville's Lite 102.9, it is decent for a soft AC format if that is what you like. But I am more inclined to prefer Hot AC or variety hits, and I actually liked 102.9 the Lake from Charlotte, which I can now only get with the HD signal in the house or very strategic adjustment of the rabbit ears. And both signals interfere badly in Spartanburg where the Charlotte signal used to be strong and clear. I just don't like these new low power signals interfering in the fringe contours of the full power stations, which now seems to be happening more and more.
That's a misconception. I like how WDUV used to sound, but some years ago, I looked at their playlist and realized I wouldn't want that to be my only option. And they've evolved from there.vchimp, you like WDUV. Lite102.9 is very WDUV sounding.

104.5 would put you to sleep. It's softer than 102.9, if it's still like I've heard it is, but more lively than the old 94.5.
I looked it up. Simpsonville does have a low-power Christian station at 104.5. I wouldn't have thought that would interfere with WHLC in Greenville, but it's possible.

I have an antenna in the attic to optimize reception of all local and regional radio/TV signals. But I can get most Charlotte radio stations with rabbit ears, including the HD. And the audio quality is very good, especially on the HD signal. But these new low power signals have started creating interference issues, especially in the car.
I am over 40 and not yet a full adopter of internet streaming for radio and TV reception, although it can be useful for distant reception. I used to listen to the live stream from WSB in Atlanta for Neil Boortz, but most Charlotte stations I can get with an antenna. And not attached to a cell phone like most younger folk either.
And an antenna is necessary to receive Charlotte TV signals which are not carried on cable. And ironically, they are much easier to receive with a stronger signal than 13-WLOS from Asheville, which is an official GSP market station with a problematic signal in the Upstate. WBTV-3 from Charlotte has a stronger signal at my location near Mauldin.
