Lite 98

They seem to be dropping fast. Could it be because they are becoming an automated clone with only two live from Richmond shows?

It could be an abnormality. I'm thinking it has more to do with 103.7 the River taking hold skimming off a few of the young listeners who want less 1970's stuff.

I don't imagine (as much as we the radio geeks hate it) that the average soccer mom or cubicle slave really cares about how much personality your average AC station has...esp. when they're really the only game in town.

I know this is the Virginia board, but does anybody remember the original jocks on Lite 98 when Scott Lindy did PM drive and before Delilah and Tesh?

Well, one was "Richmond After Dark" with Regan Keith (who's now married to CC's Richmond market manager.....). That was the late 90s/early 2000s, then Delilah took over (somewhere around 2001, I believe...)

Oh, and to answer the original post, yes, I do believe Lite's days are numbered. They'll bounce back with nice numbers thanks to Christmas music, but the beginning of the end was when Bill Cahill left for Washington a couple of years back. Say what you will about what went on during his tenure as head of FM operations, he does know how to program radio stations (WASH and WBIG doing well in DC now).

Letting Adam Stubbs go was a big mistake, and simply a cost-cutting move. It's going to happen again on Lite if the 9 and 10 shares don't return.

If CC flipped Lite to something else, what would it be and who would take it's place? Richmond has always had a big AC station except for a few years of rimshot WQSF. There was WRNL, WRVA, WEZS,WMXB, and then Lite 98 as WMXB verged into very Hot AC. Maybe Cox would flip HOT? Cox has a very tight formula for AC like WWRM in Tampa or WDUV in Tampa. When it started ,Lite was a great station under Scott Lindemann. I can't believe Bill Bevins would be cut loose and nobody would want him. I lived under the radio reign of Alden Aaroe and Richmond loves local people, unless they have really changed. Big names get axed all the time in Tampa Bay and except for BTLS, never resurface except on rimshots if at all.
