Lite moving to 96.7 w/o R&S or Goss

Looks like CCU is going to run a version of Lite on 96.7 within the next day or two, minus local talent, Chuck Deskins just told me. That means folks south of I-20 will pick up xmas again with Lite. I forgot to ask him about Delilah and whether she'll stay on Lite there.

I posted an item on my blog at:

http://www.accessatlanta.com/entertainment/content/custom/blogs/radiotalk/

NO! How dare Clear Channel take away my Viva 96.7!!!! The white soccer moms are taking over. :D Guess I'll have to listen to Viva on 105.7 now

With the South-skewing 96.7 signal from Atlanta and the North-skewing 96.5 signal from Macon, isn't CC, in effect, competing with itself for the same listeners, just trying to pull them from two different markets? Why not just simulcast one station on both signals since they're pretty much the same thing, since CC "cookie-cuts" their stations?

From R&R.com:

In its Internet wanderings R&R has found www.967litefm.com, which was registered only yesterday by someone at Clear Channel. You may recall that the company detonated AC on WLTM (94.9 Lite FM)/Atlanta yesterday morning in favor of country as "94.9 The Bull."

96.7 is currently home to Spanish Contemporary WVWA (Viva), which is also simulcast on WWVA at 105.7. Could CC be getting ready to separate these conjoined signals and bring Lite FM back to the home of the Braves?

Anyone forget CC's Magic 98.1 in Newnan (a stepping stone from 96.7's transmitter)?

Magic is more of a Hot AC. And I wouldn't say a stepping stone. The transmitters are about 38 miles apart. Plus, Clear Channel is planning to divest both WMGP and WPCH, so the Atlanta cluster most likely considers them a non-issue.

96.7 seems to be off the air this morning or maybe I'm having a hard time getting it in Gwinnett. What's their power anyway?

Thanks for the link. You're right I'm surprised I could get it since I'm in Lawrenceville. I do use an external antenna which seems to help.

I've been checking several times a day the past two days to see if 96.7 is Lite yet. This morning and this afternoon at lunch their signal was the same signal strength as it has always been.

However, since then their signal is extremely weak. On the way home from work in the car it appeared they were off the air. When I was at the light at Windy Hill & Cobb Pkwy I could barely tell they were there (still simulcasting 105.7).

When I got home a few minutes ago I fired up the tuner and swung my APS-13 antenna twoard 96.7. Even with this 13 element monster up at 50ft I'm still not able to hear 96.7.

Listened a little today to 96.7 Lite-FM , and sounds like a lot different playlist than the old Lite-FM. Maybe if they tried tweaking 94.9 earlier, they would have done better in the ratings against B98.5
