Lite Rock 105 Holiday Music

Is Lite Rock 105 not going all Holiday music this year considering they have just a online-stream only of holiday music???

That's the way it seems visting there website - and I'd assume they'd already go all-christmas already if they planned to.

I would guess this weekend or next week.Coast won't be far ahead or behind.
Lite:Your home for the holidays
Coast:You're home for the holidays

Lite 105 is playing Christmas music online until Thanksgiving, then switching it to on-air. Lite 105's usual fare of soft rock will then be played online until they are ready to switch back after Christmas.

Jazzy!

Lite Rock flipped to Christmas music this afternoon just after 5pm. I kind of wish that Lite 105 could have been the bigger station and avoided flipping to all-Christmas, but maybe kept it to two or three Christmas tunes an hour, with maybe an all-Christmas weekend that last weekend until Christmas itself.

This morning I heard Coast doing all-Christmas. Who wants to bet that Brian Mulhern will be curled up in the fetal position every morning from here on in?

Watch WCTK go double digits in the 12+ numbers. Funny how a New Bedford station is #1 in the Providence book. What does that say about Providence stations?

How exactly did they launch the Holiday Music change? When Oldies 103.3 did it this morning around 8:30, Santa Claus from the Burlington Mall stopped by the studio, and made the declaration. Did Lite Rock 105 do it a similar way? How did they do it?

It was pretty non-chalant. Cher's "Believe" faded into the top of the hour pseudo-ID (where they say Lite Rock 105, Providence, not WWLI Providence), then said "Southern New England's Home for the Holidays", then began playing a Christmas song. I don't even remember what the song was, though for some reason, "It's Beginning to Look Alike Like Christmas" sticks out in my mind. It was at 5:03 this afternoon (according to the clock in my car).

Ugh. Why anyone would want to listen to christmas music prior to December is beyond me. WHy anyone would want to listen to non-stop christmas music is way beyond me. I feel really sorry for their air staff who has to babysit this crap for the next six weeks.

My Birthday is in April. I'm going to start celebrating it in February!

Christmas music 6 weeks early is equally retarded.

Skynet74 gets coal in his stocking this year and that overcooked Turkey from the National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Film!

;)

One sign of sanity in the retail community - the display window at the Nordstrom's in the Providence Place Mall has a sign in it saying that their Christmas displays will go up on the day after Thanskgiving and that "we like to celebrate one holiday at a time". Good for them.

One Holiday at a time. Now that makes perfect sense. I actually saw Christmas Decorations up on Halloween. I realize that I bitch about this every year, but man oh man it just keeps getting more Ridiculous. Look at the Calender everyone. Christmas is only ONE DAY!

Unfortunately it accounts for something like 35% of yearly retail profits, so there's now no escape from the early starts to the hype.

Unfortunately It's all about the Money now. I wonder how many kids out there think that the sole purpose of Christmas is just to get gifts. I bet you that it's more than you may think. Oh well... at least we still have Thanksgiving.
