Live 105.3 New Show

“Inside the Huddle," co-hosted by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Sam Hurd, will be on Live 105.3 starting September 11th, following the Russ Martin Show.

gee a Dallas Cowboys Show...how original, too bad no one else in market thought of having a show of the most overpublicized team in Market #5

lol!! It is monotonous isnt it? How many Maverick shows are there on how many stations? Same for the Rangers and Stars.

Because the Mavericks, Stars and boring a$$ Rangers don't need any shows. The scheduling of those leagues makes it pretty hard to have a show thats not all over the place during the season. Besides like it or not, the folks in this market love their Dallas Cowboys.

How original. This is the second time Spittle has "created" another Cowboys talk show. Anybody remember the Tony Casius and Brian Jenson show that was on a couple years ago? Lets see two more talking heads that have never done radio get a show. Wonder if anybody will be there to open and close the door at breaks or will the listeners have to endure the awkwardness of their inexperience. I know I wont be listening.

As I mentioned in another thread, one of the Toronto news/talk stations has a daily 2 hour talk show on the NHL and the Maple Leafs ("Leafs Lunch") that runs all year round. Toronto has a MLB team, but the sports universe orbits around the Leafs (more so than this market does with the Cowboys) in that market. Whenever you have most people in a market in love with one team, there never seems to be a fill of local shows talking about them.

I wonder if teams like the Stars, which have a much lower profile here, try to get creative with exposure or the local stations just don't care. In Buffalo, their WHTT-FM 104.1 had a segment each week on their morning show last season where the local AM show chats with one of the Sabres ("Meet the Sabres" segment). WHTT-FM is sort of a KVIL/KJKK hybrid...so it's introducing NHL players to a mostly female audience by their local "Gene & Julie"-ish morning show. It's an interesting approach using something like a KVIL or KLTY to market the sport. Though, women, after being dragged to a game by their husband/boyfriend/etc. do seem to convert into fans (oddly enough, the NHL's female in-person attendance is a little over 40% women, higher than the other sports).

Question: Why Does Gavin Spittle still have a job in this market?? The guy hasnt done much in the way of improving product quality, nor has he dumped those midday cancers Pugs & Kelly.

The man is stubborn, does he realize his station ratings stink to high heaven, Get rid of this station and bring back smooth jazz.

That would be a wise idea - did you see Lynn's Oasis in Vegas spring book? 4.7 12+... 4th place in the market. Very strong.

Hey kids, aren't we being overly negative here? Having a show with the Cowboys quarterback is a big draw in this town...especially with a guy like Romo, who is probably the most-liked QB since Troy.

I agree the Romo show is a great idea. The idiots who constantly post on this board need to realize they aren't in the majority. Most people love the Cowboys and hip-hop music and talkshow hosts that are commonly reffered to on this board as cancer and the like. If the 1% of stale old idiots can't see that smooth jazz sucks that's not the rest of the market's problem. Smooth jazz isn't even real music and it gives real jazz a bad name. Give me some good jazz any day over that crud the Oasis used to play. Who doens't prefer Charlie Parker, Coltrane, Waller, Davis, etc. over turds like Kenny G??? Smooth jazz is out and this market is better for it. Fogies getting stuck in their old tired ways of thinking is what's really killing this market, not people talking Cowboys.

Yeah, but geesh, too much of a good thing is too much. You get the same old 30+ year old armchair quarterback calling in,and he's always more credible than the head coach in his mind. I know its been going on for a long time, and will do so long after I am gone, but when I watch a sportscast, etc., I would like to hear about all teams, all sports objectively. The "drooling Cheerleading" reporting is softball sugary, and one could easily catch diabetes from listening or watching it a lot. Again Thank God for ESPN.

Some really strange comments here. Its pretty clear that this show is about hearing from the Cowboys starting QB. Who has been doing radio since he arrived in the market and the most popular player with fans since the Dynasty. There is a lot of Cow-talk out there and I dont know that the market is demanding another ex-player and broadcaster chatter team. This show is a no-brainer and has a really good chance to be really cool show and event. http://www.insidethehuddle.com/

LOL....Im glad that is an opinion, and not a fact.

Personally I love all kinds of Jazz...The Smooth Jazz that 107.5 played was bad, but the Smooth Jazz 106.1 played was pure greatness.....

I don't... They are more like the Dallas Sissies to me.

Yeah, Craig Morton was a hot property at one time...briefly. Romo's long-term success can't even be calculated yet. Should the season go badly, Romo will quickly tire of the flaming phone calls and insults, since he will be held personally responsible for the success (or lack thereof) of the team by fair-weather Dallas fans. Cowboys like Hollywood Henderson, Pat Donovan and Harvey Martin were much safer bets in years past to host radio shows, as they weren't perceived to hold the overall success of the team in their own hands.

On to another point, since this thread is so multi-dimensional...Smooth Jazz is simply today's version of elevator music. It's not meant to be representative of real jazz. Try KNTU, or some of the satellite jazz stations instead to get the real thing. I can't assess what the old 106.1 played, as I was pretty miffed that they dumped the original KTKS/Kiss-FM for it, and I refused to listen...but I'd bet that it was more "interactive" than 107.5 ever was. 107.5 kept the DJ patter short, low-key and to the point...much like KMEZ, KTLC, KWXI, KPLX and other MOR stations did in the 1970s.

Smooth Jazz is elevator music and if it gets stuck between floors ,you really are in hell. Traditional Jazz is a helluva lot better. Mikes right tune into KNTU,or better yet XM has it,or perhaps load your ipod with it. Smooth Jazz is an audio form of sominex.
