Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Leave Russ in PMD. Where the heck is Fitz these days? Stick him (with a good supporting cast)in middays to hone his chops. I would move P&K (if they are still legally bound to them) to overnights where they could have more "artistic freedom".

Is Kevin McCarthy too old to do mornings? How old is Stern? I'm guessing they are close in age. Bite the bullit and put Kevin with John Roddy (sp?) in AMD. Cut them loose and see what happens. The year PS (Post-Stern) is going to be very hard to forecast. Other than Russ, whoever goes next is going to pale by comparison. Give Kevin & John 12 months to make a dent. If it flops, chalk it up to the Stern mourning period and spin again.

One more note on P&K. I equate their show to nails on a chalk board. Nothing you put in there could possible be any worse. Even BAD Radio (KTCK) grows on you after a while (in small doses). I would get a bean counter to figure out how much $ it would cost to dump them VS the potential revenue lost from their virtually unlistenable show. Hell, do a Dump-a-Thon. I'd pony up some bucks to see them ride off into the sunset.

There is no way they put McCarthy in mornings. He would not appeal to that audience and does not have a big enough draw to warrant paying him what he would want.

thanks for the thought, thinker...
and brian/coltrane...i think john rody & i with a couple of other members of a morning gang would have a pretty good chance of relating to "that audience"...stern is older than i am, russ is not that much younger than i am...as far as "followings" go, well, i think i'll let my status as a charter inductee of the texas radio hall of fame and my 30 years on the air in this town on knus/99, newstalk57wfaa, channel 4, klif, wbap and even 990 speak to that...
btw, even on 990, small as the tapscan numbers showed my audience to be, my numbers were still twice as high as any other show on the station...

Sure why not!?!? Take a station that has a single show that bills more than most stations do as a whole and chuck it!
Wonderful programming decision. You are a $@%&*@@ GENIUS!
Even if you aren't a fan of RMS or P&K, you have to admire what the station has accomplished. Even with all of it's ongoing problems, it continues to make CBS/Infinity a pile of cash.
This is why you aren't allowed to even program an iPod.
My advice to you sfradio is to STFU.

I never said you were not a talented host...but you can toot your horn all you want, I PERSONALLY do not think it would work. I don't think it has anything to do with age. I worked with Gavin and I don't think he would go that route...As for your numbers on 990 there wasn't much competition for numbers except for FISH and those are 2 totally different programs. I am entitled to my opinion and if you do get a shot at the morning show at LIVE...then more power to ya and you can prove me wrong!!

One other thing, Kevin, You seem to get pretty defense when someone states their opinion, everyone is already aware of your accolades in the radio industry
...this is an open forum of public opinion, just like your board, BTW no body is really concerned with your numbers on 990, that's like me saying I am a great basketball player and I just beat a 10 year old in one on one.
