Live 105 Question?!?

I looked at Yes.net and mediabase to glance at what KITS was playing these days and I'm stumped.

This morning in the 6 0' clock hour, they played an album track from Breaking Benjamin, I've seen Godsmack, Rage, Stabbing Westward...WTF??

Live 105 dropped most of their harder-edged tracks years ago and have since been playing Linkin Park and Rage sparingly throughout the day parts.

What's with all the hard rock here?
Don't get me wrong...personally, I'm thrilled that Live 105 is playing some of this stuff again, but why?

Also, during the overnights and even night time shift, they've really cut down on Golds. For several hours, there were strings of 5 to 6 current songs in a row. Then maybe a reccurent (song from last year or year before).

This is highly unusual for an alternative station, given that most alt. rockers now alternate 1 Gold, 1 New Song in just about every set.

The Buzz in Houston plays Golds and 90's hits at the frequency of a an active rocker (almost) during mornings and middays.

Anybody know what's up with Live? This is weird.

lots of alt radio stations are being phased out around the country.....this playlist that you are talking about sounds like X107.5 in Las Vegas or Krock in Cleveland.

That's a shame.... since Demery got there Live 105 has been one of the coolest stations out there... it's actually usually been one of the highlights to my visits to the Bay Area. You'd think that with SF being such a cutting edge metropolitan area, coupled with the fact that it's on the West Coast, a more alternative-sounding station would be able to thrive. And I'd thought the numbers had been improving over the past year or so. Bummer.

well losing a compition in a format is not good for the station, after channel 104.9 flipped they started to suck<P ID="signature">______________

This is a classic example of the weakness of radio clustering... Demery does have Live 105 sounding great but I've always felt that having Alice in the same cluster hinders both stations from sounding as good as they could... Channel 104.9 really seemed to have the music mix down for that 18-34 light alt. rock demo that was probably 60%/40% female/male. And I think if Alice were to go away, Live 105 could harvest the best of the Alice air talent and features and end up with a more personality and feature-intensive Channel 104.9 and one with slightly more gold music and one that could take advantage of the Live 105 heritage name.

Kudos to Demery for helping Live 105 to continue to survive nonetheless. I wouldn't want his or Chris Mays's (at Alice) job at this point. Can you say "Titanic?" Same with the rest of the Viacom SF cluster.
