live 105 stunning?

Yes, "K-GAY" on Live 105 is an annual event. But it *was* a bit different this year. Normally they hire guest jocks (local gay celebs, drag queens, etc). But this time it was jockless for long stretches and they did live afternoon remotes with their regular jocks from places like the Pilsner Inn. And the music mix was not as cartoonishly gay as in the past (less Village People, more '80s New Wave dance hits). But it's still a hoot, and I can't imagine it happening in any other market. In fact, with Energy doing a weekend-long "Pride Mix", and tweaking Live 105 with liners that said "WE'RE out-and-proud 24/7/365", we effectively had 2 gay stations for 60+ hours. I'm curious how much airtime NYC's 2 dance stations gave to actually talking about Pride Weekend.

This being the first year that live 105 is streaming, I heard KGAY for the first time...it was fun listening. As for New York, MIX 102.7 did a "pride celebration weekend" playing "dance floor classics"....basically their regular format...listening Sunday I didn't hear the DJ's mentioning pride. During periodic listens to KTU I didn't hear pride mentioned.

KTU teased it was the official "gay pride station" several times an hour... talked up all the weeks pride activities and went live from many and was the only station in the parade... provided entertainment at the KTU stage at pridefest in addition to pier dance. Seeing as that they are dance from disco to now they didn't really need to tweak their format as they play all the anthems regularly anyway... KTU also had pride radio 24/7 on their website and on 103.5 on the HD band.
